as much as I can try, this never works out the way I like it anymore... this last time seemed like a total joke.. no, really, a joke played on me for humor of some sort... a person whom many years ago I called a friend (I first thought this was a joke because this person who intro'd me is rather evil, and finds humor in rather retarded things) introduced me to this girl I knew back from highschool, I always thought she was really cute and wanted to get to know her but that never really happened. Well what I think is 4 years later, some dumb strike of luck, I get her number and we hang out a few times and all of a sudden its like I have a massive crush on her and my head is spinnin all over again...great, just what I need I think to myself, more to worry about! but for some reason I persue this as if I can get something out of it... like, oh god forbid, a good relationship with a great woman? ha, yeah, theres the optimisim shooting myself in the foot. well now 2 weeks has gone by and now I have no idea why I tried so hard. the only thing I found was her in the arms of another person.

since leaving for tucson last year, life seriously went down the ****hole for me.. the dorm room was depressing as hell as almost every night I either went out at night to get stoned off my ass, drunk, or stayed behind my computer playing video games till it was time for class the next ****ing day... god that made my life so depressing, I am honestly not surprized one bit that I failed my chemistry class... I had no interest in doing anything, if anything, I had thought about jumping out the window a few times because life was so bad.. tryin to get rid of those days makes me a happier person but damn did being away from my friend really suck, being back here, alot of them have been disconnected as we haven't talked all as much as I like...

hopefully tomorrow I wake up in a better mood, leaving behind the thoughts of this weekend as they have no use to me but to make sure they don't come again.

Hopefully some day I will find what I am looking for...

But I digress...
Well I've owned Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for quite some time I believe almost a year, but have never been able to even play it until just recently.

My main problem?
NV4_DISP crashes whenever I try to go anywhere beyond the main menu.
I've spent so much time back and forth between tech support and trying various fixes they've suggested and nothing. na-da.

I put the game down for ages, and I come across a sticky in their forums which was an amazing revelation:
While the screen ratio offers a 16:10 ratio setting, the game doesn't like it and has a high likelihood of crashing while in said ratio.
I go to normal, 4:3, ratio (16:9 blurs too much) and lo-and-behold no problems.

If the game is so buggy at that ratio, why did the people making it take the time to at least disable it as an option?

On a brighter note, the game is remarkably fun if not easily predictable.

Take a seat everybody, uncle t4ct1c47 is going to give you a brief history of why misinformed people think that DX10 will work on XP.

When Vista was first released, Microsoft tried to take advantage of every possible selling point. When they released Halo 2 they made it so that the game would only work with Vista. Halo 2 never needed DX10, Microsoft simply wanted another reason to persuade people to upgrade from XP.

When you first install most programs the installation process will perform a few basic checks to make sure that your system is of sufficient spec. For example, when you try to install Crytek's Far Cry onto an old Windows 95 machine you will get an error message saying that the operting system isn't supported. In the case of Far Cry, this was true, as the game needed DX8 to run and Windows 95 doesn't support DX8.

In the case of Halo 2, a game that was originally released on Microsoft's X-Box which didn't use DX10, there is a similar check to make sure that the operating system is Vista. However, as you've no doubt guessed if the original console game didn't use DX10, then the PC version won't need it either. The only reason Halo 2 doesn't work on XP is because of one of the checks performed when you attempt to install the game. There is crack available, that bypasses this system check, and allows you to play Halo 2 on XP.

Pretty much since that crack came out people started to think; "If one game that requires DX10 can work on XP so can others". But that's the point, Halo 2 never required DX10. Now when it comes to people who claim that they were able to install the D3D10 API onto Windows XP, there is a big difference between physically copying the files to the machine's HDD and actually getting the operating system to run them. Although there is a way to make it so Windows XP's DXDIAG reports the DirectX version as DX10, it doesn't mean that the machine is actually running DX10.

The Direct3D API was specifically designed to run on Vista. Attempting to migrate an entire API from one system to another is no mean feat, if this was the case, Linux would not still be relying on OpenGL. I hope that is a clear enough explanation for you.

All summer it's been fine, not too hot most days. Just right... And as it's drawing to a close it chooses now to suddenly burst everything into flames and be incredibly hot?! Global warming is a b**** :sad-smile Can barely keep my pc below 40c... makes meh sad. Doesn't help my room get any cooler either -_-

On another note, as I kinda just recently got my license, I've gotten to enjoy some of the pleasures of the road. One of them, my personal favorite, scaring off dumb pedestrians. As I was leaving college earlier this week, drivin down one of the main roads, we're talkin maybe.. 40mph zone, I see a group of teens a little bit ahead of me about to jaywalk and that just pisses me off like no other. They were 10 feet away from the cross walk, stop being lazy. Too many of those dumb kids walking around in this area thinking they're Moses parting the waters and it's okay for them to just waltz out into this reeaallly busy street at the worst time of the day. So as I see the first one just barely step off the curb and almost step into the street I speed up and honk the horn with the most satisfaction ever. The look on his face as he jumped back onto the sidewalk was priceless, and I swear he must have pooped his pants :lachen:. Now, I'm usually nice and very passive, but when people don't care about their own well being and act stupid enough to try walking across a busy street without even paying attention, I can be a teeny bit mean :) just a little...

I've worm glasses and contact lenses for around 16 years of my life. My vision wasn't terrible...my prescription was something like -4.25 in each eye or so.

After my last yearly eye exam, my eyes hadn't changed at all from the previous year, so that basically made me a candidate for LASIK eye surgery.

I had to go through two exams before the surgery:

The first one they scanned my eyes with all their gizmos and mapped out my eyes. They did a typical eye exam to measure my vision. Then they stuck these little stick thingys underneathe my eye lids to measure my tear production. That part sucked. Finally, they numbed my eyes and tested my eye pressure.

The second exam they dilated my eyes and did a few more tests. Nothing painful, just bright lights. I couldn't read for about 5 hours afterwards and my eyes stay dilated until the next day. I was very light sensitive for a little while thereafter.

Then came the day of the surgery. I was pretty nervous to say the least. The idea of my eyes getting shot with a laser didn't sit too well. But the overall process was completely painless, just very uncomfortable.

With LASIK, a small flap is cut over the outer layer of the eye. It's then folder back, the laser hits you for your prescribed amount of time, then the flap is replaced, smoothed out, and that's it.

The flap creation process was the worst part. A suction ring is placed over your eye ball and inflated, making you lose vision in your eye. Then the machine is lowered on you, placing a pretty good amount of pressure over your eye socket. It took about 25 seconds for the laser to do it's thing. It didn't hurt, but I could almost feel the cutting. Very uncomfortable.

After each eye was done, the table I was laying on swung over to the other laser, preparations were done, and I was shot for 14 seconds in one eye, 11 seconds in the other. Completely painless, just very weird. And it smelled like burning hair or flesh.

When the process was done I could barely see because my eyes were tearing up tremendously. I had to sit in a dark room for about 30 minutes with my eyes closed to ensure the flaps stayed in place. The doc came and examined me, all was good and I was out the door.

I had the procedure on Monday. One day later, my vision is 20/15. My left eye feels perfectly normal, but my right eye sort of feels like there's a little sand in it. The suction burst a few blood vessels so it's a little tender. Doc says this is normal though and it'll go away in a couple weeks.

I've got no less than 6 prescriptions. Numerous eye drops, a few pills and pain relievers. But there's absolutely no pain at all. My vision isn't perfect as of yet though. There's sort of a haze around lights at night, but the steroid drops help relieve this and it should go away over time.

I highly recommend LASIK to anyone. It's an amazing procedure, virtually pain free and the recovery time is very fast.

The best part is, all exams, prescriptions, and the surgery itself were free to me since I'm in the military. I didn't have to pay a dime. :-)

So much so as to feel the need to use this space to vent.

Lately I have felt precious little patience; the smallest things have tended to unbalance me.

What annoys me even more is that this current emotional disposition tends to affect how I act on OCN as well. I will confess that sometimes, in certain threads, I feel the need to vocalize my frustrations at certain OCNers who rub me the wrong way. The currently prevalent trend of rudeness and lack of helpfulness in OCN (as opposed to days gone by) also annoys me no end.

This is not the way I want to feel. This is not the way I want to be.

Yet this is how things are.

Some days I'm proactive; other days laziness grabs me by the throat, throttles me, and just saps all my energy and drains me of all motivation to do anything constructive.

Today was one such day. Saturday the 23rd was a dog day of a mild summer. Though the temperatures here in Southern California really didn't hit triple digits, the temperature in my bedroom got a bit close. The peak I saw in my room thermometer was a toasty 32.5 degrees C. That's 90.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Even though my knees, both of which have seen their share of athletics-induced injuries, were pain-free (compared to the rest of the previous week and a half, when both had been hurting quite seriously) for most of the day, I didn't feel any strong motivation to do necessary errands.

I didn't do my laundry.

I didn't get a new battery for my car.

Admittedly, the laundry can be done next week, but I prefer to do it just before it is absolutely necessary. So it will be done tomorrow.

My car, though, really needs a new battery. So this must also be done tomorrow.

Other things I'd wanted to do today but didn't include building my server machine, as well as resetting the CMOS on my dedicated overclocking/testing machine.

Thank goodness all of these things are not life and death matters.

It seems the majorities goal is to not be Independent. The more and more I become independent, the more I love it.
My ex-girlfriend and I, who have evolved into best friends decided it was time to not talk for a while. And i made a fatal mistake of not keeping up my other friends while we were together. I love the ability to concentrate on my life, and not worry about fitting into other lives.

Now going into my senior year in high school, the only thing keeping me known on campus is baseball. My life is seemed to be made up of only a few basic things. Baseball, music, computers (ocn!).

I still love my ex-girlfriend dearly, we were together (minus a couple mishaps) for almost 3 and a half years. She had been the best friend in the whole world to me, and has changed my life. Being away from her for a couple months hopefully can jumpstart our relationships again.

I can't wait to have her in my arms again, but now I'll start my long awaited independent lifestyle, and i can't wait! :)

you are a true friend if you read this all and i thank you.
Check my system info for more details about this system. This is a test to see how far you can push a Socket 939 processor, with STOCK cooling.

So far today I have achieved the following stats using the ASUS AiBooster to OC my system and testing with CPU-Z and OCCT on a 15min test. Also note: I'm using mismatched RAM, but I deal with it.
2500MHz

Before I go to 2600 I'm moving my system off the floor. I've been meaning to do this for a while now, just haven't had a reason yet.
The thumbnail below is a screen cap of the system @ 2500 running CPU-z and OCCT.
