The Horse, Carriage and Driver

Posted 03-02-09 at 02:59 PM by Heru

Wow, I haven't posted here in quite a while. Almost a year.

Per some recent drastic life changes and revelations, I've been looking for ways to further breach the communication gap between mind and emotion, in order to better balance myself and the way I approach situations and other people.

A friend turned me onto a parable which is called "The horse, carriage and driver". It suggests that the problem of communication is that the mind speaks with words and speech, whereas the emotions only understand images, visuals and feeling.

Here is a link that further explains the topic, but also gives advice on how to help your mind work more in unison with your emotions, and vice-versa. It spans a few pages and is very verbose, but a great read.

Too true. Often times when I'm at a loss of words for something, it's images that I'm trying to translate. I've never had something to explain that with though, so that's very interesting.

At the moment I'm having difficulty opening the google books page (max DL speed on the connection I'm using is 30KB/s), so i'll have to give it a read once i'm back home.
