Why are people fanboys?
I am sure there are many good reasons such as they have the best hardware available or they have excellent customer support. But that doesn't mean that they should say that everything else is below them and they are right.
1 person may be an Intel fanboy because they don't like AMD, but another can be an AMD fanboy because they don't like Intel.
But neither have a good reason to be a fanboy.
Why not just buy the best hardware that is available? How many VIA fanboys do you see?
Deep down even the most dedicated fanboys will change their opinion if the slightest thing ticks them off, such as AMD getting beaten in 1 generation of chip.
It is about time everyone dropped their fanboyism and just bought what is the best product that they can afford at that time.

Agree.
Back when 939 was the dominating socket, I loved AMD...because they ruled the single core market, as well as the early dual core market (Pentium D's FTL) Both my Sandy's were awesome...then benches for Conroe came out...I bought one and my system totally stock KILLED both my 939 rigs in every aspect.....the rest is history. AMD comes along with something that will kill what I have now, guess what?  |

Some people just prefer one company to another, but I get what you mean when people defend a company when theyve already lost(the defender not the company). I made a pretty nice blog post too somewhat about this in my blog. Check it out if you have time.

They just become emotionally attached to a company and refuse to accept the fact that sometimes the competition will have better products - and in fact seem to become quite angry when the competition has the lead.

They want to feel like their hardware is the best. They are so caught up in how amazing their stuff is, they don't consider that there is something better out there.

Of course there is the seperation of someone who's simply confortable with a certain manufacturer and a fanboy. My last 3 builds have been AMD's, not because I refuse the fact that Intel is in a technological lead, but because I have had good luck with what I know.
I'm actually looking into going totally outside my box and building a watercooled C2D Crossfire setup. If any of you Intel fanboys have any H/W suggestions, msg me them. |
