Chat is a flawed but, imo, essential thing to OCN.
There are several members that go into chat, and do only that - chat. If we remove that asset, they will most likely either leave OCN or post at a slower rate then what they are now.
OCN chat is a very fun asset to OCN. There are several people (need I name them?) that like to ruin it by talking about stupid crap half the time. When a mod is in there, they either dont chat or watch themselves but the second that mod leaves - it goes to hell.
Then there are people (need I name them?) go and report every single thing to mods. Really stupid things may I add. I infact, have been inspired by one who ended up getting me an infraction for calling him by the wrong name to go and be like him, and report every little thing I see. I will continue to do this btw.
It's been bought to the mods attentions (everything that is), and they are considering just removing chat. But the simple solution is to get a mod. The perfect mod for chat, and I dont see why admin hasnt given it to him already, is Murlocke. He's in there 24/7 and is the most responsible person Ive met on OCN.

You are right and I am rather frustrated with members who barely post in chat yet spend almost all day there to do one thing, report posts.
Seriously, I can easily tell this is them begging to be chat mods, but at the same time you are showing an immaturity by having to report every single thing.
One member, who I will not name, reported me for saying his name wrong, seriously this is rather frustrating. Its chat, people type fast and comment fast. I don't have time to spell your name out perfectly. I have had members when I just joined call me marlin or martin. Whatever, I corrected them and went on my way, I didn't cry about it.
Seriously, its chat have fun, mistakes happen. Spelling a name wrong or having the word stupid slip out isn't harmful.Posted 03-11-08 at 03:07 AM by Marin

Exactly - that one member reported me for correcting someone else who said it wrong.

OCN has always been anal about tos infractions and almost always takes the easy way out (i.e. delete). that's there choice but deleting the chat would be some waste. i mean sometimes you guys skim transcripts of the chat and infract it's not as bad as the forums. i'd personally say that the chat is fine with the amount of survalence it has. everything is temporary and if there's a major infraction in the chat (i.e. something that actually matters) then the mods are brought in. otherwise i don't see how the chat at all effects ocn's reputation and should be left more or less allonePosted 03-11-08 at 10:27 PM by mashersmasher
