I get a computer the other day from a customer of my "side" business. Yes, I fix computers for people and keep all the money sometimes instead instead of getting paid hourly to fix them for my regular job. Not a conflict of interest though because you couldn't take a broken computer to my regular job and ask for them to fix it. Anyways, the nice lady who gives me the computer says she has had everything in the computer replaced by her brother who "knows a lot about computers"....

Just a small one this time, but I absolutely must rant about this.

It's a new scheme that DirecTV has come up with. They have this one channel, 101 for anyone who has DTV, that airs some crap that DTV themselves put up, and some interactive things. Nothing of interest. Now, that's fine and dandy, but what I have a problem with is the randomly mobile bar they're putting in the guide.

When I'm surfing the guide, I want to see what's airing on the channels within that range....

RMA'd:
MS-40 speakers -> MS-20
DVB decoder -> Same
HTC s740 phone (twice!)
HD 4850 -> GTS 250 for dad

To RMA:
Samsung SGH-F700V phone -> ?
G9 mouse -> G9 mouse?

Changes:
Gave my dad a couple of routers I was using so he could use them at his office and we'll have a single one at home. Hopefully the network is more stable now.
I also managed to ruin 3 partitions, a windows installation, a linux one as well us...

Today, was almost like any other craptacular day in my week of heavy depression and feeling like crap. I was going through quite a hard time this week, however my extremely caring girlfriend helped me through it with ease as if it were nothing. God, dunno what i'd do without her. Anyway, the week was starting to look up as of yesterday.. and I was right.

If you've been tinkering with computers long enough, eventually you will see and/or smell smoke. Sometimes you are lucky enough to be alerted by a loud popping sound or a bright flash. Sometimes you think you smell something odd emanating from your case, but just can't quite pinpoint it. That distinctive electrical fire odor is hard to ignore under any circumstances. "Maybe it's just some dust on the heatsink getting burned off," you tell yourself, hoping to God you are right.
