Emo Kids

Why do all these Emo kids seem so fake? They walk around school with chains and black and green clothing. If they're so depressed, why do they always party and laugh? A real depressed person rarely shows it. In fact, in most suicide situations, the family and friends say "I wouldn't have seen it coming." Is it all for attention?

Although I haven't totally figured it out, it's just another form of attention whorism.
Due to what? Videoclips, peer pressure and Jefferey Starr? IDK. Honestly, I think the appropriate approach to them is not giving a crap. Sure, I'd like to headshot a couple of them when I see them at school, some just break the limits of the visually acceptable, but hey, there always were attention whores and always will be. It's just the flavor of the week.Posted 02-17-08 at 11:05 AM by max302

It's nothing more than humans displaying a basic animalistic instinct, actually: The herding instinct, where conformity and following one direction are seen as necessary for survival. The funny thing is, one of the primary motivators among this youth "sub-culture" is a desire to rebel and be non-conformists, yet ironically by following a specific trend they are conforming.
I'd like to say, though, that depression can both be covert and overt to others. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes it's not. I've been through it, so perhaps I know what I'm talking about here.

The ones that say they are emo, are definitely not emo. Emo has in time became a style, rather than some real emotional problem. These so called "emo" people that I have seen, have more friends than I do!!! LOL
Well, that is my view on it.Posted 02-21-08 at 09:42 PM by ninjinsamax3
