I don't understand why some people hate apple so much. Really I don't. Some people have given reasons, though there dumb reasons. And some people have just told me they hate apple for no reason at all.

As soon as you start talking about the iphone or something apple-related someone has to go and say apple sucks. So you decide to defend apple for whatever reason you have but they give you no reason. Just that they will never buy any apple products in their life and won't listen to you. Now the people with a reason tell you because of some bad thing apple has done in the past, as if microsoft or sony or any other company has never done wrong. There are times when you should boycott a company or something to that effect but people just hate on apple for no reason and they make great products. With apple its not just about the function of the device(though its important), its about the looks too. You wouldn't buy this would you?

My x2 3600 with an 8800 GTS got 10-15 fps in dirt with medium settings, 45-50 in lost planet on ALMOST full. I'm kind of an idiot in that I like having better than good things.(I can't have an 8600, its gotta be an 8800!; Can't live with the Zune I already have I've gotta have an iPod touch! ) Guess I'm spoiled. Still, dirt lagged a lot more than I would've liked.

So I tell my dad I'm gonna try and sell my x2 and tforce 550 board(which I bought on ebay literally less than a week ago) on ebay and try for a core 2 duo. My dad immediately said I'd better get a quad-core because he was tired of me upgrading. o.o He also said he'd buy my 3600+ and motherboard for $125, making the total amount of money I had for an upgrade $275.(I had 150 from selling my zune) My dad also said he'll give me like a little more to pay for the motherboard if I need it.

So I look for cheap Q6600's but in the end I buy a B3 from microcenter for 270, with an MSI P35 Neo. Which didn't work no matter what we did. It turned on but didn't display anything on the monitor. So a couple days later we go back and exchange both the quad-core and neo for another quad and a ASUS PK5. I hook it up, it doesn't work. Same problem as the MSI board. My dad played with it for 4 hours today, I messed with it, and we tried days before that.

Quad-cores hate me.

A different next-gen format?

So everybody seems to be taking a certain side on the next-gen hi-def format war, between Blu-ray and HD-DVD. And while I wish it would be over, and I sort of support Blu-ray on this, but there's another kind of format I think should happen. Just for the record though, I like Blu-ray because it seems to be superior to HD-DVD. It holds more space, and as far as I can tell is winning the race right now. Most of its players are cheaper than HD-DVD too. Still, I have nothing against HD-DVD.

But I wish that people considered digital distribution instead. Digital distribution is buying media(in this case movies) online. Most people already have a PC, or even multiple PCs they could use to purchase. It would save money too, because they only need to buy the movie, instead of the player AND the movie. One benefit is that the new technology will allow simultaneous global release of new movies, reducing the ability of pirates to copy a movie in one country and sell videos in areas where the studios haven't released the movie. Another is that when releasing a movie on video, they guess how many video to make and ship out and if its too much they can lose money, but with digital distribution thats different. And by getting the movies online, there would be no shipping costs for the companies, and you could not lose, break, or stolen because they could add copyright protection. I'm not advocating the use of DRM, but it can be used to prevent theft in this case.

I just thought of something too: Say you wanted to sell your online bought movie. There would be some sell option and you could sell it to your friend. After the process is done, they would download the movie and they would now be able to watch it, because they bought it from you. Like a CD key being transferred but automatic through DRM. DRM was made for a good purpose at first, why not use it for a good purpose now?

Of course there could be problems with this. For one, internet speeds. As far as I know we are not exactly at the point of being able to purchase a video, and download it within even an hour. Not usually anyway. The other problem I can think of is the fact that I, like many will oppose the use of DRM and copyright protection in this. For the uses I stated above I would be fine, but thats never the case with the music and movie industry. So that would mean people would be cracking the DRM, and upsetting the industry worker people. Which could be bad. Its already being considered though so there is hope for this kind of format.

Sorry for not being more organized in this post, I'm pretty tired so there could be errors or mistakes. I'll edit this when I wake up tomorrow. Also, I know this is very unlikely to happen anytime soon but I wanted people to know a little bit about it. Thanks for reading, I'm goin to sleep.

When I hear news or opinions about consoles or ATI/Nvidia or AMD/Intel, I have a certain way I TRY to do things. Like, when I heard the news that Sony shut down Lik-Sang, I got pretty pissed. I mean why should they shut down a successful company that helped them make tons of money in importing games? When I hear stuff like that, I usually have a "Personal" side and a more "legally correct" side, like if a hacker hacks some big computer and got 6 years in prison I would be pissed. But thats my personal side of it. The other side of me would have to agree with the law.

Of course I don't think the hacker should get that long of a sentence either but it is the law. What I'm saying is, I try to make myself be un-biased, no matter what. Which is why my sig says ":gotproof:The Neutral Fanboy:gotproof:." and I got really mad at l33t masta before he got banned. He was saying completely untrue things about open-source like he was being paid by a company to do it!

Of course I prefer some brands to others, but I try to not be crazy about it. I usually try to give a legit reason for saying what I'm saying.

I hope more than a couple people read this, because I thought it would be good for people to know why I say things the way I say them(did that make sense?). I also hope theres no problem with this blog post being okay with the TOS or not. Don't know why it wouldn't but I wanna be careful. I also also hope someone likes this...For the people that do read this, what did you think of my first real blog post?
