Lunatic Buys Lots of Crap; Prefers Bias over Obscurity

I ordered a plethora of tools and supplies for the case mod competition last night, from Petra, Jab-Tech, Amazon, and McMaster Carr. Woo! Power tools! I'll probably have to visit the local Home Depot to pick up a few miscellaneous pieces of hardware, but I'll wait until I've started prototyping and my mod idea takes form. I want to start talking about it in detail, but there is a possiblity that the competition participants may be anonymized, so I have to wait until they set up the private log area. In principal, the motive is sound: they want to prevent bias. But in practice I think this creates annoyances that I'd rather avoid, and take my chances with the bias. I was in a writing competition once where they did this same kind of anonymity, and I really disliked that. The host of the competition asked people not to give feedback until the reveal, so that one's feedback could not influence the voting. By the time the reveals occurred, it had been a week since anyone read the stories, and the feedback at that point was sparse and feeble. I'd rather just have everything open and public. If some dipwit is going to vote for CD or Syrillian just because he recognizes their username, so be it. Good for them; they earned their recognizability. I'm also not sure what the rules are yet! I'm going to be building a new machine and then I have a specific mod in mind for it, but I'd like the machine build itself to be public, since I haven't built a machine from scratch in a while. Worst case, depending on the rules, I may have to drop from the competition, but regardless I'm still going to finish the mod, or at least proceed to the point where I determine my idea is totally unsound. It's a little backwards that I've made more plans for the mod than for the machine itself. The machine is mostly waiting on the release and review of copper-based 9800 GX2 waterblocks.
