School blocking ports

Posted 04-01-08 at 01:19 PM by ted (Disaffected College Student- ted)

This morning I attended an information session held by our school's IT dept. I had been invited because I am a student employee and they wanted to see what we thought before they held sessions for the general student body. I was told we would be learning about the new Zimbra mail service our school is rolling over to, but instead it was about backing up data. Although I did get to learn about a cool piece of software called Comodo, that is not the point of this post.
After the meeting I talked...

For the last month or two I have been having a problem with the nvlddmkm.sys driver not responding and restarting. Annoying BSOD's ensue. I sent away my mobo which didn't fix the problem. I've reinstalled Windows and other drivers which also didn't fix the problem.
Here is my hypothesis which i am currently testing:
I read somewhere that the error was occurring (2 years ago, but nevertheless) when people had 4 DIMM's occupied. So, I took out two of my sticks and so far no...

Started a new web design project

My dad got me in contact with someone who needed a company website for their startup business. So, I just started this weekend on the designs and really got some progress made! I only have a prototype made so far just to test the look and feel of it. Awaiting response from the client as to the design mock-up. Hopefully he goes for it so I can continue rather than go back to the drawing board.

Since my computer has been sitting out waiting for a new motherboard to return, I decided to lap the e6750 finally. I must admit it looks ok, and probably is reasonably flat. However, I am not pleased with the level of quality and will definitely need to revisit it this summer. I basically was using sandpaper that had already lapped a couple of water blocks so it was not doing the best job. I guess it will suffice until I can try again later. All Ic an say is my mobo better get here tomorrow because...
