2900 XT & 8800 Ultra

Posted 09-18-07 at 10:35 PM by trendy

I just read a review putting the ATI 2900XT up against it's Nvidia rival the 8800 Ultra.

Not surprisingly to me, the 8800 Ultra whooped the 2900XT's butt, but what was a shock was the margin by which the 8800 Ultra lost.

Take this into account:

3DMark06 Scores @ stock settings (1280x1024) and no OCing:

8800 Ultra: 11944
2900XT: 10801
8800 GTX: 10609
8800 GTS: 9528

Charter Tickles Me

Posted 09-18-07 at 04:54 AM by trendy

I had read something about Comcast shutting down their highest bandwidth users, so I decided to read through my Internet company's AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) and Customer Agreement.

Two things I found are very interesting:
1. They do have a bandwidth cap if you are using "excessive amounts" of bandwidth. That's understandable, but a real number would be a good guideline.

#2. If I were to sue Charter or anyone related to the company for anything having...

Evga & XFX & Nvidia Get My Cash :D

Posted 09-14-07 at 03:29 PM by trendy

So I've made the jump to DX10 officially.

I just ordered my XFX 8800GTS 320MB, Evga 680i SLI (A1), and broke my bank for this month.

Hopefully both parts arrive safely and in good condition, I'm not ready to mess around with RMA processes, but at least I've heard Evga has a great RMA department.

Anyways, keep a look out for good benchmarks from me in the near future. This new Evga board has some better NB & SB cooling than my stock cooling on the...

Kicking yourself in the arse. . .

Posted 09-06-07 at 04:46 AM by trendy

So today I was cutting a very small hole in my Lian Li PC-V2000plus for a single tube in my WC setup to pass through.

As I'm cutting, my Dremel starts kicking, sputters, and dies.

Even worse, I figured (having made a deep-groved outline of the cut) I could just use snips to get the piece out before moving on to fixing my Dremel. . . . bad idea. I'll leave it at that.

Incoming parts for Project Odio

Posted 09-03-07 at 05:57 PM by trendy

I haven't been working much on my latest mod (well, if you can even call it a mod), but I have the money now to get the ball rolling again!

What I should receive this week:

OCZ 2GB DDR2-800
3x 36'' SATAII cables

Not much, but I've been really broke lately and trying to save money for a move. Hopefully that is all I will need to get my system back together and running. The other mods I have planed shouldn't require me to take everything out of...
