Voted...Xicle for me.
Yes the colors are a bit out there but then it is a mod contest so unique is key, for me anyway. The real issue for me for going that way was the quality of work relative to the tools at hand, granted there was some laser cutting done but cardboard, plexi and fiberglass?? Great job overall. Don't get me wrong, Zodiac was a beautiful, clean mod but with an entire machine shop available I personally would have liked to see a bit more creativity for this category...JMHO

I get the feeling most people here, not having worked in a machine shop, don't understand the amount of time/effort that goes into making a single part. Just the power switch panel for example took an entire night. For some reason there is this attitude I seem to get that I just walk up to a machine and press a button, and all of these pretty parts just come flying off of it. It is WAY WAY different than that. I have at least 50 hours of machine time in my entry as well as at least that much engineering/design time, which if calculated into the going rate of $65-85/hr and including materials would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $8,000 if you were to have this case fabricated from the ground up at a shop that does work such as mine. That is not an exaggeration, either... it's an honest and valid quote. Not to mention which, I've seen a whole boatload of cases build using hardboard/cardboard, fiberglass, and acrylic, I've seen numerous cases with laser cut features, I've seen cases with bright colors, I've seen cases of all shapes and sizes... To my knowledge a fiber optic display of space (or any fiber optic display for that matter) has NEVER been used in ANY case mod to this date. If that doesn't qualify as unique... then what does? The fact that my case happens to be shaped like a rectangle, and happens to be black, does not somehow make it non-unique. Nor does the fact that it started as a Rocketfish, because it ended unlike any Rocketfish I've ever seen. ![]() Are bright colors and strange shapes required to be unique and creative? Is the Murderbox not unique because many people have done TJ07's? ![]() That said, I am not trying to in any way say any entry is superior, and obviously the contest will be decided by the tastes of our forum members... but to call my entry "not unique" because of its shape and color does it a disservice. It is truly one of a kind, just like Masbukado's entry, and the rest.

but I found your build unique as mine... I know all the effort you put in... 'cause I use to work with machinery... can some day in the near future go play with your toys (machines) I have a case prototype (lock very tight) that I wanna build for production... anything like this...But I beleive everybody did a great job... and let their soul and sweat on their projects... I see hard work in every single project...
