But I beleive everybody did a great job... and let their soul and sweet on their projects... I see hard work in every single project...
Your build really surprised me with its uniqueness, and the amount of work that you put into it... I would be happy to lose to you.

I was really happy to see such a change when I looked at your worklog. In fact, I really like the bright colors, but it isn't something that my girlfriend would let me get away with in our house.

I hope you didn't feel that I was trying to be negative about your case because that wasn't what I was getting at; I just didn't wan't people to discount the amount of work or the small touches I did on my case just because its outside appearance is so subdued.

Another round of applause for everyone:

Talking

sorry for my round shape and my bright colors...
next time I'll do Square or Hexagon...

NOTE: IN THE PICs I POST YOU CAN'T APPRECIATE the real color of this MOD... (Outside "Color" is Yellow Based and a transparent yellow vinyl layer with moving oval shapes that can make you dizzy...)
(Inside "Color" is Cover with Green/Yellow Holographic Sphere Paper)
Border "Color" is krylon fluorescent green mix with rust-oleum fluorescent yellow and Clearneon II Invisible UV Spray Paint Green.

My apologies if my comments were misunderstood. In no way was I inferring that having access to a machine shop means that the mods just come flying out of the machine after pressing a button. I spent 20 years in machine shops building and designing high precision tooling and there was a tiny bit of programming in there as well. I have worked very closely with good friends that were programmers and fully respect the art that is programming...being a handle cranker it is something that I never fully felt comfortable with to be honest given all the variables that go into cutting steel. But that is a different story.

I sincerely apologize iandh if you felt that I was dissing Zodiac because I felt it was an easy or simple design. I know full well that none of these are ever easy or simple. The only way I can possibly explain what I meant is by using an analogy from my designing days. When you used CAD to produce a design at first glance it looks great whether it is right or wrong. When a design is produced on the board by hand this is not the case. It takes an amazing draftsman to create a design by hand that, at first glance, looks great. I don't know if that makes any sense but it is the best I can do to clarify what I meant. It doesn't mean the CAD designer is any less than the one doing it by hand, just that it is easier to get a professional look when machines create what is seen versus doing it by hand. Example: the rows of LEDs on the shrouds...if those were drilled by hand without a jig the appreciation of their accuracy would be more.

Yes, the Pro entries were all fantastic and very different making comparisons almost moot. Congrats to everyone and again I apologize if my previous post, or this one for that matter, is taken as critical.

No apologies necessary at all, and no offense taken whatsoever. I just wanted to make very sure that nobody assumed that the machines just do the work for me.

Just fyi the rows of LED's were drilled by hand without a jig.

I marked them out using a machinist's rule and ultra fine point sharpie marker, and then used a starret center punch to mark the centers one by one. I drilled pilot holes on the drill press and then came back with the proper clearance drill for the LED's using a cordless hand drill, then I kissed them with a countersink to de-burr them.

You might be surprised just how much of the mod was accomplished using readily available hand tools, I would say probably 60-70 percent.

The CNC is no doubt handy, but without access to one a lot of the work still could have been accomplished, albeit with considerably more elbow grease, and many more skinned knuckles.

Yes sir.

Goliath and BT320G aren't getting quite as much love in the votes yet but IMO they are every bit as deserving; they have each their own little "cool factor" going on.

Please feel free to post anything that is not computer related, as long as it falls within the TOS, in the off topic section.

Goliath - I like the overall outcome. I also learned a lot by reading the extensive build log.

It was a tough choice. I want to congratulate all of the modders because everyone put in a lot of time and effort. Great logs!
