Default day 3

Day 3

I got up nice and early and went to wellingtn performance Vehicles with Pete where they let us use their workshop.
Pete cut the Lexan while I stood aroung trying to look useful, but clearly not in my element.

Cutting the side Lexan.... (jigsaw)

cutting the top lexan....

To cut the above lexan panels and holes Pete got a nice big drill bit and made a hole that caused the measured lines on the lexan to form a tangent with the hole.
Then the jigsaw blade could fit in and start cutting along the line. Pete has mean jigsaw skills Cutz were made outside the line to make up for any of my poor measuring, so that we could file/sand if the measurment was wrong.

Final cuts:

The panels and replicated fan holder are ready.
The fan holder is absolutely perfect, the metal panels are cut well, but the paint has chipped off a little around where they cut (perhaps use masking tape??). Of course, this doesn't matter anyway since I will be painting the case.

Here's what they look like:

Fan holder (in case):

Cut panels:

Unfortunately the weather sucked so I couldn't start on the spraypainting, but I got some sanding done. Not really worthy of any pictures.

Pippy and I spent the rest of the rainy afternoon inside, itching to go paint but held back by mother nature. I guess she doesn't want us putting all those spraypaint fumes in the air

Default Day 4

sand sand sand. I went 60grit to 100grit to 150grit to 320grit to 400grit on all the items shown and it took ages, but i figure its better to do more and have it looking uber-good rather than not do enough and have it looking shabby.

Me sanding:

Fan brackets sanded

side panel sanded:

Front bit sanded:

Obviously I havent sanded all the bits yet

On to the priming (first light coat):

Fan brackets

Side panel

Front bit

So ah... there goes the first coat of primer. Wasn't it fun? no. I even managed to cut myself while using the scissors to cut off square of sandpaper

The only other thing I did was make this round IDE cable, it came out pretty good. The ends are heatsgrinked (black)

Thanks
