What does your BIOS say? Y'know where you go into the memory configuration thingy? In that one's submenu, you can see what CPU you have.

And will you pwetty pweese be so sweet to take out the CPU and write the stepping + model no. on it?

It's definitely a San Diago...It would have the FX logo showing if it was indeed an FX chip.

Druid, can you go up and down on the multipliers? Like above the stock multiplier?

Well part of being a n00b is getting schooled by Pros... what can I say--I ordered a lot of parts while in Savannah and did not open them immediately--but the "FX57" I did open--but being a n00b I did not know what an FX is supposed to do anyway. Pretty sorry state of afairs...but let's just say that particular seller no longer frequents OCN....

Anyway I have to thank you all for opening my eyes. Mostly I have had good luck here on the FS threads.

EDIT: Hey I was being a dumbass--it was a 3700+ KACAE not an FX57--and the reason it didn't clock is prolly cause I had the evap head seated incorrectly--a piece of neoprene was trapped between the two..my fault.

I don't have enough time because I have three heavy courses in school and a job that pays minimum wage.

School comes first.

It is overclocked a bit. BTW I want to clear up MY confusion--I wanted to buy, but missed buying an FX57--and being so old and decrepit I can't keep my thoughts straight anymore (wheeze) so i wan to clear up any thought that I was swindled.

I bought the 3700= from Snerp who is completely trustworthy (around PCs...can't speak for womenfolk)

Anyway I have a feeling the Sandy doe not like thecold or I killed it by overheating or something .

Hey I have a silly question. Are there any SW utilities that will give an accurate reading of subzero temps off the mobo diodes? Asus Probe reports 235C above zero...now if that were actual I think the Fire Department would have arirved by now...
