It also helps to be generous, polite, respectful and to have a large....uh....bank account. Diamonds for the Wife, C2D Rig for the Wife, Roomba Robot vacuum for the Wife, New Nitro for the Wife...I don't think she even notices...she is busy buying $5K worth of kitchen countertops and sinks and plumbing...on her new Conroe online lol. Keep them so busy they can't complain!

Hehehehe I just got the MSI board for ICE to munch on (it's only $40) so I will be yanking the 3700+ entirely and adding it to the growing mound of Silicon.
Gonna pack the Opty155 I got from Transonic in there just to see what an undamaged CPU can do this time. I promise I will not slack on protection this time! Nor will I blunder in and turn on the rig before the phase is intiiated.... So until Phoenix rising arrives I will be playing with a singlecore Opty and tweaking ICE (not tweaking on Ice min you) and dialing in some of the the Aestheric elements. As I mentioned above I have lights and switches and LED fans on their way from Performance-PC and I have some serious hardware coming form NewEgg. I am loving the Gigantic case.... for years I have tried to cram as much as possible into relatively small Midtowers--WaterClocker is a completely internally WCed Lian Li Pc7a...that's a small box--I could fit eight of those in Ice. And there is room to add a watercooling loop for the GPUs (which would have been done if the WBs I bought had not been so corroded) because the Graphics cards are difinitely annoyingly loud compared to the gentle hum of the CHilly1. One of the reasons I wanted to try phase was to see if it was gonna be a viable 24/7 thing for Folding. And it will be--but not with any fan-cooled cards...as in most cases they balance between ventilation and soundproofing is an equation you cannot excape--a completely open topped/bottomed/all mesh case is gonna be loud unless you can eliminate all the fans possible. Ideally I would like to WC the entire deal except for the CPU. I might try using the Phase for a chiller too--by simply clamping a WB onto the evap head and wrapping it all in neoprene. If I use Neoprene sleeving on the supply lines I should have a decent temp without too much prep of the board. One of the benefits of running cool but not frosty is the lack of condensation on the actual compenents. I figure with two cards, NB, and CPU waterblocks the loop[ would be cold but not freezing..I dunno until I try. Gonna get cracking on that MSI sometime tomorrow. Today I am organizing the PC part collection back into totes--I have risked it long enough(3 year old son up at 6AM--Sleepy Dad up at 10 am--4 hour interval for mayhem...)

I have had my ups and downs...I used to spend all my money on Motorcycles and Repairs and Speeding Ticket Lawyers...one ticket = P5WDH Deluxe Mobo w/ WIFI LOL.
But I am going totally nuts lately...time to tighten and dial in what I have. Too much of anything is still too much. Staying in balance is key to happiness. So toaday I will spend my usual 18 hours of Modding Cleaning and organizing instead--which will not only make me happy--but make my family happy--because after that I am gonne turn in at a reasonable hour for the first time in a week and try to be awake and present when they are. I really needed to get this stuff out of my system--I've been planning on it for months... As far as having the same rig--I still have the first modern PC I built myself--it has gone through some cases--but is basically still intact and works great. The Imsai 8080 is long gone (built in 1979) sniff sniff... P4 Northwood s478 on Asus P4SDX with 4 x 512 DDR400 Corsair ValueRAM running three HDDs--a u160 SCSI (15K RPM 18GB Cheetah 80in LVDSE on LSI HBA), a 7200rpm Maxtor IDE 80GB and an ancient 5400RPM IDE WD40GB. The Cheetah still kicks butt. I built that rig 6 or 7 years ago I believe...back when XP just came out...and AGP was "new" and DDR400 was "fast" LOL.

Sounds very good especially the part about watercooling everything but the cpu. If you get quiet fans and a silent pump, you might forget it's there
![]() Good luck with the blocks
