Default [Project] 900 cable routing project

Here's the first part of my new build, which I like to call "The Punisher" due to all the black that's gonna be involved. Here's my current parts list:

Case: Antec Nine Hundred Case
-Received

MB: EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
-Received

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
-Ordered

CPU Cooler: Thermalright IFX-14
(Still waiting for it to come out... guess I'll be using stock cooler till I can get my hands on one)

RAM: G.Skill 2GB DDR2 800
-Received

Video card: EVGA 8800GTS 640MB
-Received

HD: using my WD 250GB SE16 Caviar

PSU: hangin on to my Rosewill for the time being. Maybe get something a little better in the near future

I got my 900 over the weekend, and began my cable routing mod. This is part 1 of 2, maybe 3, depending on when I get all my parts in. Comments welcome!

I've got all my corner holes drilled, and ready for cutting out, actually started cutting before I took the picture, oops:

Here, I've taken off the top part, and tried to drill some holes for the front panel wires to fit through. Sorry, it's kind of fuzzy, not sure why:

I've got the wires through the holes, and the top back on, just to see if it actually worked. It did:

Here's a view of all the corner holes drilled, and the top back on, with the front panel wires routed to the back:

I've got all the holes dremelled out, using those corner drill holes as guidelines. Not the greatest cuts in the world, but it gets the job done. Below the pic is a guide to all the holes:

1 - Drive bay wires
2 - Power cable
3 - Rear fan wires
4 - Stock hole, unused
5 - CPU power cables
6 - HD SATA and power cables
7 - Drive bay wires
8 - DVD SATA and power cables
9 - PCI-E power cable
10 - Motherboard SATA cables

I used electrical tape around all the cut edges, as not to cut any cables being routed through them:

Same thing, but a view from the inside:

I unclipped the drive bay wires from two of the clip things, you'll see why in a second:

I'm feeding the unclipped wires through the hole:

It fits!:

And that's all I have done for now, still waiting of my sound dampening mat so I can line the inside in black. I'll keep you posted within a day or two, any suggestions/comments are welcome, enjoy!

Well, my sound-dampening mat came today. I finished lining the inside and got the top back on. Here's the pics:

The sound-dampening mats:

Started lining the bottom:

Finished lining the bottom:

Finished lining the top:

Here's how the whole thing looks:

Now that I'm done with that, I started to put the top back on. Here's the front panel wires being fed through the hole I cut:

Top's back on!:

Inside view with the top back on:

Here's what I've got so far:

I set the MB inside just to see what it looks like so far:

I gotta say I'm pretty happy with the way things turned out. The last of my parts should be coming in by Thursday, and I should have the whole thing done by this weekend.

Ok, I finally got my internet "kind of" working (long story). So here's the rest of my build log. Enjoy!

Here's a shot of the PSU tentatively postitioned in the case ( I realized later that some of the cables were too short to be routed behind the MB tray ):

I've got most of the cables routed back into the case, minus the HD and DVD burner:

Everything installed, here's a shot of the back. I never have to look at all those cables again!:

Back panel back on, looks good, no bulges:

Everything installed, and turned on. Turns out my top power cable was too short to route behind the MB tray. Oh well, it's not that bad I don't think:

Same thing, no flash:

Wider view:

Side panel back on:

Finished thing, I gotta say, I like the way it looks!:

Well there it is. I'm going to be replacing my PSU and CPU cooler soon, which should make it look cleaner, and let me route the top power cable behind the MB tray. Let me know what yall think!

Edit: whoops, wrong link for one of the pics, fixed now

I like what you did with the front pannel stuff, with my motherboard there is almost no way to route the power, reset, and hdd led, and the usb and audio cables were to big and bulky, so i ended up cutting them off *except the power reset and led lines of course...*. The way my computer is situated it's just as easy to get to the back.
But that was a good idea with the top panel.

While i don't understand how the sound dampening pad helps *i don't think much sound gets through the back of the case, it would seem to me the window, intakes, and fan grills let out the most sound*, i think it turned out looking pretty darn good. Although i think a mobo that wasn't all black would look better, like a gigabyte ds3 or something, that would be a good color scheme heh. But it looks great gj, i can't wait to see the rest.
