Wow I was a little shocked to see my thread on the first page this morning, lol. I havent really had much time to work on the case in the last few weeks, been to busy on the weekends, or had crappy weather. Hopefully I'll get the black layed down on the inside of the case, and finally finish the bondo work on the front this Sunday. Then I can paint the front next weekend and start putting parts in it!

Update #7

Wow it been a long time, lol! Well I finally found some time to do some work on this case. I did some painting on the case. I also found some new bondo to work with. The first two coats of black are done on the case, I'll have to get some more paint in the A.M. to finish it. Everything you see covered in tape will be the Midnight Metallic Pearl Blue (Same as my Charger!) I've also been thinking of a new way to mount the rad as I don't really like the U-channel. The new bondo I spoke of was a fiberglass reinforced one. I was having issues with the area around the top of the flaps cracking. This should fix it. I put on a nice layer and will sand in the A.M. I missed a few pics, but the sanding on the front was starting to look real good! Nice and smooth. Taking the shape I wanted. I'll have some nice pic's of it up tomorrow. I love how the Black and Blue play of each other. Well here's a few pic's that I took tonight. I'm also going to remove the top cover over were the USB and stuff plug in, and placing the filler port in there. Pic's of that in tomorrow

Ya you should, this is my practice for when I start working on my 'stang. As promised here's the update!

Update #8

Woot two updates in two days, lol. Got the last two coats of black on the inside today. I think anyway, I may do a bit of sanding and repainting, but I'm not sure yet. I did a pile of sanding on the front as well!. Man am I glad I bought that Black and Decker Mouse sander! This thing rocks. Works great on the flat sides and on the tight curves. I need to apply one more very thin coat of Bondo to the front to fill the last of the small holes in it. Man those can be a pain in the butt to get ride of. I'm going to go back to the regular bondo for the last thin layer. Speaking of thin, anyone have any idea how to apply a real thin layer of bondo, lol? I'll figure something out, the hard part is in the curves. I think I'll cut a few of my plastic applicators up to give me the ability to apply thin amounts on the curves. All in all I'm happy with how it's coming, hopefully I'll be able to get that last coat on and sanded after work tomorrow. Enough rambling here's the pic's! Oh ya, I used a different camera this time so they may not be as good.

Really shows the contrast in color nice! I should have take the tape off the rest but I'm not sure if I'm done with the black yet.

Default Update #9

Update #9

Wow I can't believe that it's been 3 months since my last update, man time flies! Been really busy with work and family and this kinda got put on the back burner for awhile. I have managed to get some work done though. I decided to mod the top I/O plate to hold the fill port and fill in the useless holes in the plastic.

I also filled in all the little holes that were in the bondo, turned out ok I guess. I had to cut out the fan grilles after accidentally rubbing in a blob of bondo in to them, lol. I'm going to get new grilles and mount them on the fans, it should line up ok. I'll be painting them the same translucent blue as on my Mozart

First coat of paint

Second

Third, last one before wet sanding

A look with the front on the case

I pulled off the tape covering the blue on the case and am happy with the way it looks, the contrast is very nice IMO.

Sorry its dusty in there, lol. Need to wipe it down from all the sanding today. I'll be wet sanding the front tonight.

Well it may be taking a lot longer then I thought, it's getting there.

Kinda off topic, but when I mentioned I'm trying to hone my bondo skills to work on my stang, this is the car. Needs alot of TCL though, she's old. I've had her for years but she's been sitting for awhile. Not any more though, now that the garage is up it's time to get her back on the road!

She'll be getting a new pair of shoes for sure!

Back on topic now, lol. I'm hoping it's not another 3 months before I can get anymore done I plan to have it ready for part's with in a week or two.

Default Update #10

Update #10

Woot got a bit more done! Well the wet sanding and another light coat of black any way. I have a few days off work coming up and it should be a bit warmer out so I hope to get a bit more done. It may not look like it in the pic's, but the front looks way better. One or two more sanding/painting sessions will be in order, but the front is almost done! Here is a few pics.

More soon I hope!

Default Update #11

Update #11

Well so much for that nicer weather I was hoping for, lol. It was -33c to day with wind chill hitting -44, lol. Man I hate winter sometimes. I really wanted to try and get some work done on this though so I decided to try something a bit different. I had a can of semi gloss black paint kickin around and some foam brushes so I decided to try some hand painting I think it may turn out ok, however if I'm not happy with the end result, I'll just do some wet sanding and spray over it. In a few of the pic's the paint looks kinda grey, however thats just the flash, it's all black in real life, lol. I think I'm done with the bondo/filler work on this mod as it's starting to drive me mad, lol. It's a big PAIN to get right. As you'll see in the pic's there are a few spots that could still use some work, but for a rig that will sit in a dark hole under my TV table it's good enough IMO. However that said I'm sure I'll try and fix it a bit, lol... Need to hone those skills for when the Mustang gets started. Or I just pay someone else to do it Over all I'd say I'm happy with it, and I need to start getting hardware in to it as I have to move the current HTPC to it's new home in the office. Well here's some new pic's, hope to get some feed back on this. I know alot of people are looking, just no one saying anything Makes me a sad modder, lol.

First coat brushed on,

Second coat,

Well , that's it for tonight I guess. Hope to get some feed back on this. G'night all!

That bondo turned out great.

Thanks Syrillian
I've decided after looking at it that I'm not happy with it yet, lol. Even though it's going to sit under the TV table I need to fix the dimples in the top. I like the way the paint is going on, I have a feeling it'll turn out nice.
