The Blue one needs to be rubbed down and painted again. I wish it were ready but it is not.

Hot day too..and likely rain tomorrow.
Lol, it's the stupid mistakes that get us all!

I'm glad you figured it out and nothing serious happened. Good luck getting the work done before the rain comes through.

Yeah Right? It's also the "Search Trauma" that gets me after I clean up and organize and put everything away invariably that is the hardest time to find stuff later...

I am flustered tonight. been having a lousy da at making things happen--but a great day at messing stuff up.

Still not satisfied with how the rad on the window is going to be plumbed to make installation somewhat less than a nightmare...

I was a thousand times better off with the top mounted PA160 and about a hundred off with the undermounted BIP...

The window rads look great and theoretically would be highly functional with the two mounted fans but plumbing is a real challenge.

Just can't get my head in the game I guess..the fam, the heat, the search trauma..kind of thwarted my earlier momentum...now I am just sagging in my flesh sack and waiting for the mojo to realign.

Have you tried mounting the rad on a hinge to the inside of the case. So it's flush with the side when its on, and stays with the case when you take the side off, but can swing out of the way when you need to work in it?

That's a good idea.

I used some 1" x 1/8" aluminum to make a frame on one case,,,something like that might be the answer here too.It would be nice to make the rad lift out or swing out...The door is really making it too hard to plumb.

I fabricated a simple aluminum frame to hold the rad and locate it against the OD bay.

Unfortunately I can see that the best location for the rad is now lower and further back..which means re-cutting the door--a simple task--if I had the materials...which I do not.

So once again I am stalled somewhat and must wait.

I am going to mock up the entire assembly out of clear plastic though--which I will use for templates later.
The Solution I came up with is to mount the fans on the door but not on the rad--to mount the rad to the frame using industrial doublesided tape and the frame to the chassis using velcro. that way removing the side panel door is not an issue and lifting the rad to the side for acces is no biggy..I think.

I am using an old chasis to mock it up and TBH it is so hot muggy and buggy I can hardly stand it. But I will see if I can get something that works together by the evening.

Ordering more UV plastic now...expensive mistake...I cut 4 panels at $17 a pop...wrong

Rather than tr and recover from the error with some sort of cobble mess I am starting over and will just roll with it.

Aesthetically the rad was lcated in a great spot--technically it was blocking one outlet from the Res and making installation a real chore.

Glad to see you got it sorted. Could you use the cut panels you have on air cooled versions of the case? Maybe duct them so the blow over ram, PMC, GPU and CPU?

I wish. I ordered more UV acrylic and so I will soon have it sorted.

I actually found another error in my new location--after I fabricated the floor to ceiling baracket I saw right off that it would impinge on the fan opening and make noise...so I chopped it down and added a strap over to the OD ba for support. Then I could see that it would no longer allow 7" for the longer PSUs like the PC Power 750...and saw that I would have to locate it closer to the ceiling...that created the conflict with the res...so I then found a potentially good location about an inch further back from the OD bay that would let the reservoir tubing make a sweep past the rad.

The new location now puts the 2 120mm fans on the inner side of the rad...which is okay I guess...but now totally screws up the neat little filters/LED fans accent...

I did manage to figure out a simple way to mount the rad frame to the OD bay with spacers of aluminum and thumbscrews tapped into the spacer...which is slick.

Basically the rad can be unscrewwed with two thumbscrews and swung out side the case to get at the mobo etc.

I am still working out the ideal plumbing for this. although I like the wire reinforced tubing it is quite springy and puts a fair load on anything that it's attached to once twisted and looped around to take up slack--meaning undue side force on the CPU WB..which will never do.

I think my previous designs with top mounted rads are the best--this one looked great until I started trying to make the tubing runs work properly.

To avoid using elbows the case interior rapidly fills with sweeps and looping coils of tubing--to allow for the rad to be removed...which is beginning to look more and more like a basic flaw in the design.

So far the Top Mounted PA160 is the best of all the designs. But I was hoping to use lesser and less expensive components (HW Labs rad) to make this build more affordable.

Tomorrow I will again apply my self to the challenge and see what comes out of it--oftentimes what seems like a flaw becomes a strength. I am hoping I can spin this fiasco into a finale in short order
