Default [Project] the $2000 rig :: case mod

the $2000 rig :: case mod

Well i need a new case since im selling my current rig to a friend to buy a laptop.

Parts list

This case is going to be engineered to cool even the hottest hardware, and it is also going to have some type of fan hole or window on all sides of the case. Here are some concepts done it sketchup:

I just got possession of an old cheapo atx case that i will use as a base and build on. I don't have pictures of when the case wasn't completely gutted, but its a generic beige box. Here are soem pics of it gutted and striped of useless pieces:

I don't know what ill do with this i might just toss it.

Striped and ready for reinforcing. I did some drilling and dremel work at 2am. (gotta love sound proofing )

The rest of the side panels ready to be cut and painted.

Tomorrow I'm going back to home depot to see what kind of metal I can get to reinforce this sucker since I wont have all of those stupid drive bays to hold the thing up :P

Got the case stripped of everything useless. Today I bondoed the sides because they had some stupid useless vents that looked like crap. I also cut out the front and sanded the fan hole in the back.

Today I got a lot done. I cut both sides of my case and sanded them to perfection. I'm not going to put u-channel on the sides so the smoother the better.

I didn't have a chance to do much today but paint the front side with primer and bondo the back side handle.
