no pics tonight. UPS only delivered the L angle and bolts will wait to take pics once the perforated steel shows up.

Actually got some work done this weekend. I got all the pieces for the frame cut. Took about 2 hours start to finish. The bottom and top pieces of the frame came out great but the legs to connect them seem off, so I am either going to have to get a some more L angle and recut them or shorten them all a little. Not sure what i am going to do there.

The top/bottom pieces are all 18" with 45* cuts on the end so the piece together nicely. The legs are all (supposed to be anyways) 17" to give the 18" x 18" x 18" cube.

Here is a (crappy) pic of the finished worked. I am getting ready to glue the angled pieces together for the top/bottom sections of the frame. The epoxy is just meant to hold them together temporally. Later every thing will be bolted together to give it a rugged machined look, if that makes any sense. lol

Today saw a good bit of progress. After trying to cut the lexan with a jig saw and not doing so good, The_Synper chimed in on my thread about cutting lexan and suggested scoring. This is the way I wanted to go at first with acrylic but not seeing much about it with lexan, I decided to saw it. Scoring worked awesome! The 1/4" pieces were tough to do and one came out too short (a mistake on my measuring) but the 1/8" pieces were a total breeze.

Between last night and tonight, all 6 panels are cut and ready to be marked up for cutting out designs, mounting points and what not. I am more than likely going to redo the one 1/4" that I messed up just need to see how bad it looks once every thing is assembled.

Syrillian work log has given me an idea on how I want to redo my frame, so this weekend I will be recutting those aluminum pieces and hopefully drilling some holes so I can bolt everything together.

I know some one is going to scream pics so here is one of my test fitting the panels together with some corner clamps.

This case is going to be huge and could probably second as an end table in my new apartment if need be. I did want the case on the big side so everything would be nice and orderly inside but seeing it in person for the first time in the test fitting, makes me wonder if I should rethink the size.

A little more work done this evening. I got the mobo tray/shelf base made from 1/4" lexan, drilled all the rivets out of the Lain-Li mobo tray just so I have the atx back panel and started laying out the parts for the case back panel.

The small piece on the left is the mobo shelf base and thats my big toe in the corner.

Some more progress today. I got both side panels "windows" cut. The cuts are rough (cant really see that in the pics) but will be sanded later to make them straighter and smoother. I also got the mesh for the windows cut. The mesh is not attached yet just there so you can get a better idea of what is going on with the design.

Tomorrow will be cutting out the back panel, re-cutting the aluminum braces and if time permits I will drill a couple of holes in each brace and panel so I can see how it is coming together.

Here is a few pics of the finished product.

Oh yeah Sears had a sale today so I just had to pick up there 10" drill press for $99.99... I am going to be drilling a lot of wholes so this falls into the must have equipment

YOU GOT A DRILL PRESS ?!?!?! - I am soooo jealous.

That was a wise investment. Now come on! Let's drill stuff!

I see that you have also have a penchant for large cases. If I may be so bold: The largest pitfall that you may encounter is the 24 pin and the 4/6/8 pin ATX reaching.

Hahaha...don't do what I did and happily build for several weeks only to discover that the aforementioned cables would not reach.

I ended up getting extensions... but that is not optimal.

This is gonna be a really nice case. I like the dual triangle geometry of the panels. I noticed that you cut the angle at a 45 degree bevel (I think that is what I am seeing) - kudos to you... cutting and mating compound angles can be a real biatch.

so...did the Wifey-poo take you to the curb due to your purchases?.... erm... make her Dinner, rub her feet and then go shopping some more!

I am definately watching this project.

I already did a test where I plan to put the PSU and it looks like everything will reach nicely. The SeaSonic M-12 has some long cabling on it

No beveling but damn thats a good idea!!! Lighting in my room is weird so it just may be some funky shadows.... damn I cant get the beveling idea out of my head... now to figure out HOW to do it

Sadly we are splitting for other reasons and I know you were just joking And yes, she does not know about the drill press or the QuadCore I am getting and it will stay that way
