I'll try to have the rest of the fans and CCFLs in there by the end of the weekend. All I really need now is the hardware.

They usually have case mods at large LAN parties (like Showdown and PDXLan).

After testing the PWM fan controller with the Blackfire fans I realized that at low speeds the fans were "growling." By means of trial & error I discovered that if I replace the 0.1uF timing capacitor with a 100pF capacitor (raising the PWM frequency from 30Hz to 30KHz) the symptoms are resolved.

Here's the Baseboard after a few more coats of paint, sanding, and steel wool treatment.

Is DD going to feature this as a new case design for their site, now? ..the Torture Rack and WaterBox are good cases too..but a full tower is so much more practical for enthusiasts..and flexible too.

ATM I don't really have the time to make more of these cases; as I'm working on my masters (and plan on getting a Ph.D) and also have to finish converting my model RR to DCC once this project is finished. I may consider doing custom projects for people when I have more time on my hands.

I don't know if will feature this case; but Petra's Tech Shop may showcase it, and A.C.Ryan wants to incorporate pics of it in some future promotional material.

Sure would be cool if DD were to make a case based on this design.

It looks like I'll have to buy most of the hardware myself; but it's surely going to be a killer system.

Started installing the CCFL Lighting

What will become mounting plates for the CCFL inverters

Drilled Screwholes

Rounded the ends

Polished them up

Drilled & tapped screwholes in the MB Panel

Secured the inverters

Mounted the 4 CCFLs on the right side

Secured the right-hand panel

Lighting on; dim ambient lighting

An assortment of shots in the dark

I'm planning on having the case and hardware wrapped up by the end of the upcoming weekend; finishing up the baseboard may take a little longer though.
