Default [Project] :: Blood Ocean

Yesterday I helped my dad drive me over to compusa after traffic died down. Since his right eye had to be treated because a tiny piece of wood was stuck in the middle he had to wear a patch over it. So we made it to compusa in one piece and we went to where they were selling cases. The Cooler Master Centurion 5 was marked down $10 from the price advertised online

I unpacked it from the box and it is a really nice case for $63. Really sturdy, and the front panel is really awesome.

First I mounted a 120mm fan on the front. The case has those interior filters that are attached to the inside frame. They can be re attached by 2 screws so putting them back in is easy. The holes on it were spaced exactly as far as the 120mm fan screw holes were spaced. I had to tin snip the bottom holes a bit to get it to work but other than that it went really smooth.

Then It was time to put the psu in and organize the cables. My OCZ psu has tons of cables so that was a task in itself. Theres 6 molex plugs, 6 sata plugs, 2 floppy plugs, 2 pci-e cables and an 8pin cpu connector and a 24pin mobo connector.

So I finally got everything organized and wired up. I'm out of cash again, but hopefully I'll be able to find a job soon. Here's the ending result:

I'm going to buy some real carbon fiber and I'm gonna accent the case with it and do some weight reduction. I also have a crazy plan having to do with the side panel, witch I'm planning for right now.

What you planning on doing then to reduce the weight?

I would get rid of those filters quick, as they cut down massively on the airflow and there are still dust filters built into the case front I believe?

If you've got those metal filters on, as well as the meshed case front, the fan can't be getting much more than 20% airflow

Defo need to get rid of them, are you planning on changing any of the features in the front panel or simply doing a nice side panel job? Maybe make a carbon fiber front panel... TBH it would look slick if you could pull it off just a thought

Good luck

Looks great nice little project you got here. I would open up the rear hole and maybe mount the front 120mm fan differently. Good job on the PSU wiring and the CF sounds cool you want real stuff? It will cost you a pretty penny. The side panel idea is nice could go for some tinted acrylic or a fan or design.

Finally I though it was time to bring this case mod back to life! My friend ditched his Lian Li for the same cooler master, so this was a perfect time to snag that 120mm vga fan mount from it I also dug up some Dremel cutting disks and started making some access and fan holes.

I bought 10x 120mm fans for a wind tunnel cpu cooler im gonna make:

Fans

Heatsink

But GASP! My 939 board cant support the heatsink

Help save this poor heatsink from being homeless by supporting the: buy sp00n's board, ram, and processor so he can buy an am2/am2+ system fund. :P

Heres a small update. I tested all of the fans and did a comparative noise test. These suckers are LOUD! This picture explians it all:

I cut out the side window and used yet another part of my friends Lian Li. Tomorrow im prob gonna buy some more stuff from mnpctech.com and Radio Shack.

Side Window Cut:

Lian Li Case Side Grill:

for $12 and I could easily make 3 more windows

My check cleared and I bought some stuff. First on the list was the Orange Box since ive been wanting to play Portal and TF2. BTW anyone want HL2?

While the games were preloading, Squee was giving me some good advice about water cooling parts. Yep I'm gonna setup my first water cooling loop I got everything ordered and some other goodies I'm also getting a 22" LCD and a 160gb hard drive since my 250gig is almost full.

I'm also going to be looking for a 6 gig to make my drives equal an interesting number :P

I currently have 2x250gigs. Now what does this equation equal:
250+250+160+6

Oh and heres the goods is just plopped $500 for:
