Default [Project] CCC Raptor X Build Log: Poison

Hai Guyz

First let me say this is MY damn case...not the one I wil give away with Admin in December...not the one Syrillian is gonna rub mojo on...just mine

But if you win the other one this might give you some ideas about stuff to do.

Let me point you to the other thread if you want to see all the bits and pieces of the case and what it looks like coming out of the shrinkwrap.

This thread picks up from that point.

So Here we go...prepare to start scrolling

Here's the $126.95 case...it's shipped flat and requires a fair amount of assembly. Acrylic is probably more of a PITA than even Lian Li aluminum as far as fingerprints...but unlike aluminum it does clean up well..

I mounted the motherboard while it was easy to get at.

The front panel/bay assembly will go in last.

Here I have the sides attached.

Just to get an idea of where stuff is going to go...

Using one of my Apogee GTX solid copper tops. These are sweet.

Using the fat O-ring to bow the base...

And bow it it does...

That's a nice bit of jewelry to adorn my beloved LanParty.

Wow...I really like me some copper.

That makes me horny....

Time to finally use this gauge...

CCC provides a bay cover and a dual bay cover. I mounted the gauge in the dual bay cover.

The front panel is not actually frosted. It's a plastic film. This I did not know until AFTER I put it together...oh well...I kinda like it this way...

Test fitting a fan... only 25mm deep fans will fit the front intake.

The Case will be attached to my Uber Cooler so no need for pump rad and all tha jazz: makes for less clutter too.

I did check clearance an a 220 will fit up top just need to route an extra hole.

BSPP O ring barbs will fit in a 1/4 NPT T. this is to the PSI gauge and CPU inlet.

Got the main bit run. This about as clean of an LC install as you might like.

Went with a dual bay reservoir to fill up the front a bit.

The honking huge PSU with a bazillion miles of cabling just hangs off the back panel...I was a little shocked that it does not warp it.

Damn that looks good. Time to bring it over to the Monolith and plumb it into the Hydra.

Ready for a fill.

More in a bit

Default Putting in the Poison

At this point is like 3 AM and I am pretty dazed. I had a LOT f trouble with a few little things that should have been easy and was pretty tired.

I added a T line because there is no convenient way to fill from the res.

T this point the fluid is Dasani and Pentoosin with a Tracerline UV Blue. Very interesting...but not right for the build.

Injecting the POISON

That's about right.

I don't even want to tell you about the troubles I had between the blue and the green...jsut too tired and did not double check my work. Luckily nothing came to harm but I did goo through a lot of paper twels between 3AM and 4 AM

Oh hell yes...that's what the DFI board wanted: green!

Great thing about the external cooler: bleeding the loop is very very fast.

I took some vids of the res action; it's very intense.

Just running it in. Aftermy troubles I let it run a good while: good thing because I discovered that one of the DAMNED O ring babrs wasloose on the res making me stop and sop again. I was crossing my fingers that I had not wiped out this brand new Plextor DVD drive...

Notice how the tubing glows blue and res glows green: trick hunh?

And of course there is always the Raptor X

More in a bit...

Default And will you love me in the morning?

5.5 PSI

This case really makes the HD 2900XTs look good: the flipped mobo puts these bad boys front and center.

The Green is greener than green...

Heh...that's pretty neat looking into the thing...

MADNESS

The fluid really looks different in deifferent light...in daylight its a very pure peridot green.

Me likey.

I originally put the TransPiper over the PSU but the heat was killing my chipset temps.

Mmmmmm

With and without flash.

Even in daylight the UV poison is brilliant.

Currently Folding at 3600 without issue. Chipset temps are a bit high so I will likely try the lil copper plate that ships with the board to transfer some heat to the LC set up.

And that's it...

I did not lavish much time on Cable management yet. eventually I will redo a few things. I might take the front apart and peel of the frosty film.

That tricked me because it's not like the paper--it's really on there and looks like a frosted finish...so I was tired: give m a break sheesh

Schwing!

That is some major eye candy!

.... I almost passed out 'cause I was trying to look everywhere on it all at the same time!
...got all dizzy!

...but I don't understand the gauge Is it temp? Pressure? It looks like pressure... but how does it get a reading? Does the air pressure provide the data?

... I must be missing something either in observation or kowledge...

I really like the frosted front panel, a very nice touch indeed.

I think I like the frostedness.... I dunno tho, hard to tell if it really looks ok from pics. Anyway, VERY nice. that is the first setup with any external WCing that i've ever really liked.... just cause it looks so badass I dont care where the pump is lol.

It's a PSI gauge and it doesn't care whether it's oil or water or air. Some air got trapped between the gauge and the tee..and it has stayed at 2 PSI even with the pump off...lol. If I tilt the case I could work it out of the line but I don't think it matters much.

Could have used a thinner tub by far...even a capillary tube would work.
