*Small update*

First box arrived from moddersmart last week with some tubing, fan filters, and reservoirs.

Still waiting on packages from Xoxide, Newegg, and Performance-pcs with more fans, more fan filters (didn't get enough the first time around! lol), a cheap PSU and some other goodies.

I have decided I'm going to stack the cases. Due to the bevel on the front panel there was no way to put them side by side without a gap. Now I probably could have come up with some creative solution for this but instead I decided to make the stacked layout work.

Both cases are now completely dissassembled and and I've begun the monumental task of sleeving a ton of wires. (didn't post pics of this because, well it's pretty boring to be honest)

One thing I was concerned about all along was cable management in a clear, er two, clear acrylic cases. To partially remedy this problem I've decided to use barrier strips for the radiator fans and UV lights. Since I will be cutting up the cheap PSU I bought for the fans anyway, my plan is to cut, splice and extend the PSU wires to the barrier strips and then run all of the fan/light wires to the strips as well. One set of barrier strips will be for 12v items like the rad fans and the lights, the other set of barrier strips will be for 5v. The 5v barrier strip serves two purposes, it balances the load on the PSU and also allows me to run the numerous 80mm fans at a lower noise level.

Over the next couple days I plan on taping off the rest of the panels and getting down to cutting.

Stay tuned!

Few more bits arrived today! Still waiting on two things from Newegg, which will round out everything I've ordered so far.

80mm UV Blue fans

Front panel switches (yes, one is meant to be green)

Fan filters and $5 PSU from Xoxide

More to come later tonight

stack them desktop style with about 5 inch risers between the 2 cases.

Well it's been a few days since I've posted an update and to be honest I've been pretty busy working on the case. Unfortunately I ran out of sleeving so I had to wait for a another batch from moddersmart. I'm up to ~30ft of sleeving so far with a lot more still to do.

The secondary PSU for the fans and pumps is pretty much done now. Sleeved, painted, and spade terminals added for connecting to the barrier blocks. Originally I was planning on using one set of barrier blocks for 12v accessories and another for 5v. But I may can the 5v idea...not sure yet. Either way, here's some pics of the PSU

On the lower case I added a few 80mm fan holes for sufficient airflow around the GPU and hard drives. (3 80mm fans will go here)

I also did some cutting on the top case panels. This will be the panel that both radiators will be mounted on. MS Paint in real life!! lol

Next up is the top panel of the top case. Here I've started to cut out the two holes for the reservoirs. I didn't have a hole saw big enough so these will have to be finished with a jig saw.

The top panel of the lower case will be the divider between the two cases. Naturally all the tubing will need to run through here along with quite a few wires, so to simplifiy things I just used my 80mm fan hole saw and created a perfect hole for the wires and tubing to pass through.

That's all for now, but I'm hoping to get some more work done tonight. Thanks for looking!

Very nice work on the holes. What type of hole saw's are you using, bi-metal, wood? I will need to do something similar to a piece of lacrylic soon.

Hole saw's are Rigid wood hole saws. The 4.5" hole saw for the 120mm fans is at the limit of what my 19v drill can adequately torque and will sometimes bind in the acrylic as it melts slightly and reforms.

I've revamped my ideas for the barrier blocks and how I will be securing the two cases but I need to make a trip to Home Depot and Radio Shack before I can do much else. Should have some more pics up tonight though.

Well I didn't get as much done last night as I was hoping, but I did start reassembling the bottom case.

Be gentle on the flaming as I didn't clean the acrylic panels before taking these pics....
