Yes look in strange places you never know what you'll find. I guess I am just attracted to shiny things.

Typo: Sorry it is actually a standard mortise and tenon joint not a housed tenon joint. In a housed tenon joint you would not see the tenon as the mortice would not be a through mortice...

Erm

so

Nice Joint.

Pieces I will send off to Cyberdruid to make acrylic corners. I made the donuts that will house the LED's and be glued to the Corners, the donuts will act as a hinge for the Rondec flip up/flip down covers. Sorry no action shots of the dounuts, I just spun them up on the dremel.

Corners will connect these 2 pieces of Rondec.

So this is where I am at for the frame of the inner sanctum.I hope to get another joint done tonight.

Had to make a custom router bit to cut a groove in the acrylic corners that CyberDruid is making for moi. I used a sanding roll shank, some washers,2 fiberglass cut off disks and the best part a bearing out of a hard drive.
Had to test it out of course.

It was warm enough in the garage to do some cutting so I cut up the 4 floor supports, the 2 front supports and a rear support.
I think I will add some of the decorative flat bar over top of the floor supports to make them flush with the 1"angle. I'll just screw them together, Of course counter sunk and allen screws to match the rest of the construction.

Made new diagram

Had to measure clearances of the outer shell and the inner frame. I have a whole 1/2 cm clearance between the outer and inner on each side. Since the outer shell will slide and fit around the inner, I wanted tolerances to be close but still leave enough room for protruding screws and such.

If there is any play from the slides (side to side motion),I will enlist the services of these bearings. They have male and female threads so I can fasten them to little brackets made out of spare angle and attach them to the top side supports and ride against the Rondec. I will have to get some O rings and put on them so nothing rattles between the inner frame and shell of the case.I will most likely use these to insure a good sliding motion and kill any vibration.

The bearing have a nice groove so 2 O rings should fit nicely on each.
