This ambitious project has been several months in the planning stage. This case will be built for water cooling and over clocking of a dual or quad core intel processor. It also has been inspired by Syrillian's Liquid Chameleon, although it will look nothing like it. It will however have a similar set up and component placement.
This project will consist of the following components -Dual or quad core processor -Motherboard for dual or quad *The above items will be purchased around Christmas and I have a $500 budget for these. Any suggestions as to what combination of MoBo and chip for overclocking would be great. -Scratch built case made of aluminum and mirror acrylic *To date I have amassed a collection of aluminum for this build that has cost me over $150 so far. ![]() -Rad will be 1970 Chevelle heater core ![]() -Fan for rad will be Papst 141cfm 50+dbs Blower fan housed in a custom built polished aluminum shroud and rad support. http://www.overclock.net/case-mods-g...papst-fan.html -CPU block will be made from an existing piece of copper from a Copper/Aluminum air cooled heatsink and acrylic. * final design will depend on cpu core configuration. ![]() -Water pump *Yet to be selected and purchased-any suggestions welcome -PSU *Yet to be selected and purchased-any suggestions welcome -optical drive and hd will be taken from another computer -not sure which ones yet. -memory and graphics card *Yet to be purchased Features ![]() -this case will feature an outer Aluminum/mirrored acrylic/lexan/chrome mesh shell that will slide forward 20' or more to reveal inner frame. It will be secured by a latch and can be key locked. No doors or side panels to take off It'll all slide on bottom mounted drawer slides. -3 big separate comartments will house the following -1 for psu and hard drive bays -1 for rad, fan and reservoir -1 for motherboard and optical bays each will have their own fans for cooling -2 smaller compartments in front -Top one will have keyed power, power button, reset button and fan controls. -Bottom one will have front audio and usb -All polished aluminum inner frame and polished aluminum shell frame. In fact all metal will be polished or chrome. -Lexan windows on both sides -case size 24.5" x 21.5" x 10" Pic of various parts ![]() ![]() *This is the very start of this build still in the planning stages and does not take precedence over another build I am currently working on, so with all my build logs patience is a virtue. I just wanted to officially start a log. Enjoy the ride. * concept renderings and chicken scratch coming soon* ![]() ![]() Top pic is proposed component location in the inner chassis -PSU or should I say PSU's on bottom along with hd bays -motherboard and optical bays in the middle -rad , fan and res up top Bottom pic nice and clean look *note side panel is mirrored acrylic still working on window design that may include chrome mesh*

blade ^ not bad fan controller. I still have lots of time to choose chip and board I will be looking for the best overclocking potential I can get for $500. I still have lots of research to do for that.

"Scratch built case made of aluminum and mirror acrylic."
Music to any modders ears! This is a very ambitious project that you are embarking upon. I am glad to be watching from the start. -Subscribed. I really like your idea using the sliding chassis design - very unique. Wow! So much DIY stuff... Heater core, chunk-o-copper for block, angle, sheets of various materials... if you got any more "down to bare-bones" you would have to wind the armatures on the fans yourself and make the PCB's. ![]() yep!... definately subscribed. ![]() P.S. Where did you get that back-plate (rear IO insert)? Me needy 1 or 2

Nothing better than a case from scratch. I'm keeping my eye on this one, as it sounds very promising.

Thanks for the comments guys I am heading out in the garage soon to do some cutting.I want to make the outer shell first so i can measure the inside of it so I can keep tolerances tight so the inner frame is as big as possible. unfortunately I am bound by the size of the mirror acrylic as to the outer shell size. I don't want to buy another sheet of acrylic so I have to base the outter shell size on that....measuring acrylic...and...total height of case will be 24 1/2" total length will be 21 1/2"....nice and big
