I like the victorian script best, but I think that trophy tag would look 1000% better better in back or silver, over the gold.
You know me, I'm never satisfied with the "almost there" look. ![]() Pffft - That dude in the pic ain't wearing enough brown to be a UPS guy. I don't think anyone's gonna steal Syr's uber-system anytime soon.

Okay the handles have grown on me but that plaque does not belong on that rig.
Rado's idea abot how to mount the handles would be plenty strong... but looks like it will make putting the top on a real chore...hopefully you will only have to do it once. I believe you mentioned breaking the front tab: that would secure it for sure. I think that if you make or find the correct length plastic spacers between the top and the chassis you will get adequate compression/strength without all the fiddly nuts and all thread...just trim some bolts to length and insert from within the chassis thru the plastic spacers. You could weld or fuse the spacers to the plastic top so no maddening moments when parts start rolling around and dropping into the case... Looks better all the time...and it was looking good a dozen pages ago

I truly spent a lot of time wondering if I should have a plaque of some type on the case. I realize the whole idea of a plaque may seem pretentious to some. There are some things you may not be aware of. The case was received back on September 18th and I'd been looking at it for three months at that point. I had built a rig for my Brother In law with the Antec 900 case back in June. I was enthralled by the Air Flow through the case and loved the idea of being able to change the location of the front fans. Made my first post about the case back in early October. (Heck, I could even paint outside in a Parking Lot cause it was so warm.) ![]() And I asked radodrill if I could commission him for the base project back in early November. I was really in no rush as I had two good PCs in cases . It didn't start out as a "New build", but rather just a new case to play with. Like most of the members here I like to "personalize/customize" my rig a bit. I mean, that's why we build them ourselves. ![]() Probably have built only 5-6 rigs or case mods. I see the quantity (and superb) quality of your mods and think "wow, I wish I could do that!". If you check out some of my rig "mods" you will see that they are all very easy to do. Certainly something that 95% of the members could do with a little planning and available time. There is really NO COMPARISON in the degree of difficulty to rigs that are fabricated (radodrill's and Syrillian's immediately come to mind). You need to be skilled and have the proper work area to perform those types of "miracles". (The reason I didn't think the case "currently" fits the "Showcased Work Log" thread, I hope the "radoBase" takes it to that level) Apples and Oranges as they say. So the plan was to do a couple tweaks on the Antec 900 case and switch the components over. Simple, easy, fast. But sometimes ideas/visions/thoughts dance through your head and things spiral out of control. (dang, happened again) ![]() I had some ideas for a base (that I felt would be unique and would need to be "fabricated"). Radodrill was very supportive and I got pretty dang excited when I saw his "computer models". I am sure that other members have become friends through PMs and bouncing ideas and thoughts off each other. It's the kewlest part of belonging to a forum. Rado was also very clear in that he had a number of projects he was working on and won't have time to do any work until Late January/Early Feb. So I understood his timeframe. I also realized at this point that it would probably be a case that I was going to have for a while. So I tried to think about what I wanted it to be. I wanted it to be a build I would remember. The fun times, the challenges, the encouragement, and meeting new friends with similar "hobbies". If you ever had a plaque or a trophy you know that when you look at it it brings these memories to mind. Usually they make you smile or remind you of a "story". (Ie; "that was the year our little league team went to the state tournament") And since I felt that a base/mount/pedestal was important to the final case mod I wanted to let radodrill how much I appreciated his "camaraderie". So I decided that a plaque of some type was required. Not sure if Cyber doesn't think a plaque is appropriate on the case (and I can understand that line of thinking), or that the two plaques I showed are just not CD's cup of tea. I actually thought more members would say, "a plaque is gay my friend". ![]() But the case is for ME so a plaque is definitely going to happen. Lot of love and time and great memories in this project already. It deserved a "name" and a "plaque". Whew, on to the plaque color issue ![]() I looked at all sorts of different types and font styles. Every Gold/Black/Silver combination. Metal, plastic, and plexiglass. I chose the the Black lettering on brass because it stood out the most. There were other combinations that I liked very much but just didn't give the "effect" I was looking for. Now I know where you are coming from Shaun. A black plaque with gold/silver lettering was elegantly subtle on the case but I wanted a little more "pop". Need to point out here that neither the plaques or the handles have been mounted yet. I am still concerned about how the handles will look when the case is mounted on the "radoBase". "We'll see" is all I can say. Mounting the handles: Knowing radodrill I am starting to see how his mind works when it comes to fabrication. In a phrase a "bawls out, no compromise" design. Now radodrill doesn't have a 900, so he is not familiar with how the top comes off/on like CD, RnG and other owners are. The top sort of closes from the rear. Shaun pointed early out that some type of reinforcement would be needed for "safe" lifting of the case. Radodrill's method would be very secure to say the least. (fiddly nuts and all, plus I enjoy fiddly) ![]() But to CD's point, I do think that nylon/plastic spacers, would be much easier to work with as I "close" the top. Again, if you have this case you know what I am talking about. Sorry if this post turned into a long rant, but maybe some will have a better understanding (if not approval) on where I am coming from. As always, the feedback is much appreciated. ![]() P.S. Currently running CD's "waterfall test" pic as my desktop

Whaaaaaa?!?!?!?
I demand that you destroy that evidence of my pilferage... IMMEDIATELY! .... damn heist cost me a hernia.Plaques: I had a small one made in memorium of my Father. I placed it in a discrete location [read: out of sight] on the folding workhorse (in fact it is sealed inside like time-capsule), as it (the build) was of sentimental value.... a quiet little secret. Personally I like the Roman Italic, but the print seems anachronistic as it is old-word print on a high-tech object.... hmmm... maybe that dichotomy is rather appealing....? Lol... I just gave an opinion that had no opinion. ![]() Maybe you could do the plaque in binary? Too Geekish? Too lame? ![]() Keep at it Sound, I love this thread and the work that you do. Right-on Brother. P.S. Please remember that nostalgia is an affliction reserved only for the old.... for example: you and me ... but yeah. I catch your drift. I have items from way back when, and sometimes when I catch a glimpse of them I travel time to a place that is surreal and dreamlike; the halcyon days of our youth

I understand where you're coming from too, Carl, regarding makin' the plaque "pop"... remember, I painted a sunburst yellow case.
At the end of the day, it is your case and you personalize, symbolize, memorialize, anodize, cannibalize it the way that makes you happy! Hey Syr - How can you say that you're old when I'm older than you?! Don't make me smack you in the knee with my cane!
