Yes, beautiful case, beautiful attention to detail, just beautiful, if your case was a woman I probably would have done dirty things to it.

Excellent Excellent Excellent

I am not that old, 30 in 8 days, but I wish I had your skills!

I was trying for a clean look with enough "trick" to make it standout from the crowd.
I'd bet a lot of guys are dealing with a very limited budget and no decent work area, just like I am.
Any of this work could be performed by the average member/apartment dweller.

Certainly the "radobase" will be the a unique touch that it is NOT easily duplicated.
I can't tell you how excited I am about the "radobase" and it's visual indication of system information.
Guys like Syrillian and my main man radodrill have the tools, the knowledge, and the vision to do things I can't even imagine.

I think many rush into a mod when they get a new case without a plan.
Even minor mods like this need to be thought through, no matter how well planned enough issues arise that can be a nightmare.

There is something about polished acrylic that not only proclaims "unique", but "exotic".
Sexy (in a slutty way), if you know what I mean

The "Ultra-Flat Black" paint (WalMart) I used worked great after priming..
Added a sort of "Industrial Strength" effect to it.

I guess it's pretty obvious that I excited about the "radobase".
Radodrill is a great guy and extremely helpful, and I know he can bring my idea to fruition with a "twist" or two.

Gonna be adding to Dallas One Wire Thermal Probes to the MX-6 (top PLED model).
They're extremely accurate and I just need to figure out what needs to be monitored and hope to dress the wires.

****...... and I thought the Druid had Skillz ( well, come to think of it, he does!). There are so many potential FAQs here, I wouldn't know where to start. Don't take this the wrong way , Sound, but you're anal in the right way!. I've always loved this case....... so much that I built the wife's rig with it, but if I let her see what you've done to it, I won't have a day off for 2 .... make that 3 months!. Personally, I love the stock side window, ... but I'll always look at it with contempt after seeing your mod ( damn you!).

How bout some links to plexi polishing ( yeah, I know, I'm a lazy dog), those fan silencers and the HDD thingies?

great looking case! Probably one the the nicest / cleanest cases I've seen. Well done, nice wire management. I agree about that IDE, I used to have mine folded like that and it looks alot better than the circular ones. I am all sata now, though

Thanks Dudes, means a lot.

I know that both CyberDruid and TankGuy are vendor reps here.
Pretty sure CD sells the Scythe HDD Stabilizers and one of them may carry some brand of the Fan Isolation mounts.

I don't think radodrill or I have decided whether to post the "radobase" in a separate or incorporate it into this one.

Either way, I know that he wants to do a "thorough" work log on the project.
He has commitments until January (oh gawd, I hope it gets here soon), but thinks he can have it completed in a number of days. w00t

Raphael is the one that can fill you in on cutting and polishing.
I know he wants to do some with a "modeling" guide/FAQ.
If you DL the program and Drawing in the thread, it's possible to look at the base and case from any angle.
Very trick sheet

Getting ready to post a little more info on the LCDC software program for the Matrix Orbital displays in a minute.
The thread is hardly over

Thought that some might be interested in the LCDC software that controls the Matrix Orbital displays and and the LED indicator that will be incorporated into the "radobase"

As I mentioned earlier, you really don't need an MO display for the software as It allows you a virtual desktop display as well.
They will also show the GPU Indicators (LEDs)
If you want to try it out for 30 days free head over here:
http://www.lcdc.cc/downloads.htm

I certainly don't mean this as a tutorial.
The software is actually very easy to use once you get the hang of it.
(Put the bong down and read the instructions)

Once you install the software you'll be presented with the Menu.
Pretty easy set up but a lot of options.
I've got all my voltage, temps, and fan speeds read by the Custom DFI MBM file.
There are plug-ins for Everest as well if you feel adventurous.
Hale, there are plug-ins for the Weather, seti, F@H, HDD and RAN Usage and Available space, Network IP addresses, you name it.

Here's a shot of the screen builder and it allows you to select/build any screen you want.
And with Custom Characters you can do logo's and animations.
Remember, The virtual screen on your desktop displays the same information as a Matrix Orbital display would.
You could set it up for 2 lines or 4 lines

Under "events" you can set up the GPOs (LEDs) which are represented by the little circles in the blue virtual display.

Here I have named the Event "PWMIC", and have the LED (GP06) set to strobe if the temp is greater than 40 C.
You can monitor/select any sensor from the drop down menu

You can have a number of "states" on the LEDs
ON
OFF
FLASH
FLASH INVERTED
STROBE
STROBE INVERTED
CYCLE
TOGGLE (On/Off)
TOGGLE (On/Flash/Off)
FLASH ONCE
PLAY SEQUENCE
STOP SEQUENCE
TOGGLE SEQUENCE

Now the idea here is to mount each LED in a different "layer" (top-middle-bottom) in the "radobase"
As the LEDs flash they can light up different sections of the "radobase" and give the oh so uber kewl "chamfered" edges a slick "glow". w00t

LED 1 Status Example (let's say the top section)
ON/ Connected to teh interwebz
OFF/ Disconnected from teh interwebz
FLASH/ Chipset Fan Has stopped
STROBE/ Graphic Card Core above selected temp
ON/STROBE/OFF (Sequential) New E-Mail Received

LED2 Status Example (the middle)
OFF/ CPU Temp below 35 C
(Now I am thinking that I also extend the HDD LED off the mobo and put that in the middle section as well.
That way when the CPU is running cool and the LED is not on, the middle section will serve as the HDD activity light)

ON/ CPU Temp above 35 C
FLASH/ CPU Temp above 40C
STROBE/ CPU Temp above 45C
ON/STROBE/OFF (Sequential) CPU Temp above 50C

LED3 Status Example (Bottom of the "radobase")
ON/ PWMIC (Or Chipset or whatever) Temp above 40 C
OFF/ PWMIC Temp below 40C
Flash/ PWMIC Temp above 50C
Strobe/ PWMIC Temp above 55C
ON/STROBE/OFF (Sequential) PWMIC Twmp above 60C

Bet you have the idea now

I haven't decided on the exact settings for each layer/section of the base.
Not sure if it would be better to dedicate each section to CPU/PWMIC/Chipset as I really would like to monitor my GPU as well.

I do promise to host the final "example" file in the future which should allow you to just "plug it in" to LCDC and modify it to your specific rig.

Whew, Hope I didn't bore you to tears.

Here's a quick run-through on plexi

Cutting:
1. Mask Plexi panel
2. Carefully mark out cuts on masking
3. Cut as close to line as possible without crossing it.
a. if using a jigsaw, use a high TPI metal blade; high cutting speed is OK, but low travel speed is imperative (gives more control for more precise cuts)
b. special circular saw blades for table saws are also available from places like US Plastics
4. Slots, chamfers, and rounds can be easily cut using a router with the appropriate bit.

Polishing:
1. Wet sand edges smooth working to 600+ grit (1500+ if polishing a large surface)
2. Buff to a shine using Novus #2; preferrably using a cloth buffing wheel on a bench grinder
3. Hand polish with Novus #1 (Clean & Shine) to help protect it from dust/fingerprints (do this step on a regular basis)

See, I said that radodrill was extremely helpful (and fast too).

I am using my custom DFI MBM5 file for my NF4 and 939.
http://www.diy-street.com/forum/show...&highlight=mbm

Since a lot of folks with newer CPUs than I (and much bigger wallets) are using Everest (I do too), thought I would let you know that Matt Auger of LCDC has developed an Everest Plug-In as well.
Link to LCDC 30-Day Trial (or you can buy it for $9.95)
http://www.lcdc.cc/downloads/LCDC_Install.exe
Link to NEW Everest plug-IN http://www.lcdc.cc/downloads/plugins...EVE_plugin.zip
Once you select "Shared Memory" under Preferences in Everest, you can select from all or Everest's options.

There is a virtual display option for your desktop.
So you can literally program in just about anything you want.
I'll have one of the M.O.s displaying the components in the system
ie, Antec 900 Mod by soundx98 (scrolling)
Cooling By Zalman
Lighting by AC Ryan
DFI Nf4 Ultra-D (with nVidia logo)

I look at it this way, an LCD will run you about a hundo.
Lot of dough. But with these programs you can see if one is right for you.
Or just have kewl info running in your "Virtual Display".

Think it's slick as hale myself
