Nice. Very clean outcome.

For channel molding you could also use automotive door trim, an autoparts store should have some. It comes in varying rigidities, so you may want to bend it around a little in the store before purchasing..... of course doing so may earn you some glares from the employees. Doing so will ensure that the trim will follow the edge as cleanly as possible.

Lol... I thought I was gonna get kicked out of Kragens Autoparts. I was walking down the aisle and bending all their trim in half .... no permanent damage however.

Your pics = Schwiiing!

The molding cost a few bucks per length (about 3 ft)...

...hold on a moment.... I will take a couple of pics and post them.

[10 minutes later....]

Okay. This is door trim for automobiles. It has a bead of adhesive running along the inside wall that will keep it in place. As I mentioned before, it can be rather ridgid. Heating it carefully will make it more supple and pliable. It is best suited for staight edges or fan holes. It can be bent to fit a 90-degree bend, but some patience and heat will be required.

I used this same moulding on Liquid Chameleon and was rather pleased with the outcome.

It is molding that can be installed on the edges of car doors so that when you open the door and make contact with a hard surface, the door paint will not chip.

It is fairly flexible... bend with hands (not trying to be a smart-arse...).

I use a lighter and carefully heat the area that the bend needs to be, then quickly seat it.

Does that make sense? If not, lemme know and I will give it another go.

i see... *missed ur last picture*...

will consider that stuff.. looks shiny too =] thx for the suggestion =]

what is it called exactly? door trim?

*edit*

kragen... thats the same line as checkers right? time to head there and see if i'll get kicked out XD

what im wondering is why is it hard to bend? isnt it like a rubber U-shaped tubing?

*edit again*

found some clear tubing. cut a line in it and tried it on.. looked ok but think id prefer black. clear on white vs shiny black on white.. esp when the cut isnt that good of a job ;]

*edit x3*

dam. i did this project to raise my rep. guess there wasnt as many people who liked it as i thought.. guess i wont be able to post on marketplace... ebay here i go >_>

Ya... Checkers is very similar to Kragens... maybe the same thing, different name.

"door molding"
"door trim"

Those names ought to mean something to them. If nothing else you could wander tha aisles until you see it. It is generally located with other things like pin-stripping, and the like.

I'm having a hell of a time finding that stuff. I went to Napa, Autozone, and Car Boutique, all of them didn't carry it. I ended up getting some on McMaster.com.

I havent tried autozone. theres one down the street but since syrillian said he got it from Kragen, i tried the next best bet, Checkers. Think they are the same company.

i cant decide which one to use. Can all you people help me decide? I picked out a chrome and black one. What do you guys think would look better on a white side panel + clear acrylic? Chrome? Black? Help me decide =]

Oh another question to ask all you modding professionals out there... if i were to cut the honeycomb fan grill on the case, what do i cut? what do i keep? where do i cut? can someone make me a diagram of where to cut =D lol thx =D
