Default [Complete] Fired PC (finished pics on last page)

well, this is what i do...just found these forums and have liked them so far some of you have probably seen this case on a few other sites, its because i sorta want to get name out there...going to try for plexi cube next

anyway, enjoy

empty case, nothing in it yet

doesnt really do how huge this case is justice, but that is 12" long.

back panel

IO panel

my hard drive rails. yes, they are wood, and they are burned + clear coated

mobo installed, it isnt full atx for some dumb reason but it just shows how big the case is..

everything inside

it turns on

perdyfull monitor and case

just a bit more of a close up

fan grill. yes, its small, but its going to change in time

the texture im looking at. im going to burn the case with a propane torch for coloring (hence the name)

front panel taken off, with name taped on.

name cut out but what about without paper? o.O

w00t looks great to me

need to color it dont i?

it burned. if you look closely, the first F and the O are actually touching. O well, still looks good

without flash. that is y im burning the externals. makes for some really cool textures

clearcoated + flash

installed

close up on my handy work

what i get to cut out this weekend

all comments (badly) wanted
thanks!

I was thinking varnish but you overcame that simple-mindedness and went straight for the blow torx...and I do love fire, keep it up.

Just a thought burnt on the outside/varnished on the inside for a nice contrast...just a suggestion.

sorta, i would have access to the tools, but wood sounded like more fun i might eventually, but not till i get good with wood/plexi. the cases isnt near done btw. still have 4 panels to engrave, getting some special paint/fans/cahtodes

that is a good idea might try it. ill see how paint reacts to varnish (its ClearNeon red)

That seems to be some damn splintery wood. Do you think it may have come off a little more polished if you used a hardwood?

Also, what are you planning on using for mounting the mobo and HD? I hope something that is grounded properly to the PSU chassis.

I've worked with wood similar to this b4. Danm near impossible to keep from splintering on the backside of the cut, especially with a jigsaw.

Not a bad idea at all. That torching actually looks pretty cool. Just a couple constructive criticisms (no pun intended), like when you're working with fine detail work, wood glue and a brad nailer will give you a much cleaner final look on your edges. Also, if you're going to have plain wood (not the case with your torched side) always sand with the grain to eliminate all those little scratches.

Just a couple things to consider, and I'm curious as to how this will turn out.

thanks for the ideas

its actually paneling, and i got it for free so i really cant complain too much. as for splinters, it does a little bit but as long as i dont do anything dumb it seems to be able to sand off quite well (i used a jigsaw for all the sides and they have worked out...so far)

again, thank you very much for comments will have update this weekend with new top panel, maybe back panel

first update ever here hope everyone is still interested

finished the cutting. again, i cant stress this enough, peoples comments are awesome...really makes nearly breaking your wrist worth it (im dead serious it hurts like hell to type now)

its done

is you compare it to original pic of what the flames were supposed to look like, i actually really screwed up. but it still looks pretty good to me

without flash

i dont know if you can tell, but some of the flames are REALLY close together. i was seriously debating if i should just use black paint instead (i have it)

decided not to and am very glad i didnt

just another shot of the burnt one.

the clear coat is drying as i type this.

all comments very much welcomed

grounding is accomplished through the psu. so as long as the power cables are connected, everything shares a common ground. just loke if he was using an acrylic case (or no case for that matter)
