Are the computers on the same workgroup? XP defaults to the workgroup MSHOME, and I think Vista defaults to WORKGROUP. Check that by right clicking My computer and then the computer name tab. Lookin great though, that is a nice case man.

The heatsink arrived. God Willing my Daughter will enventually take a nap I can have an hour to try and get it mounted...Mom is out bookhunting.

The other 750GB arrived and I am almost regretting having the install on the Raptor...a larger drive with the OS and files on the same partition would make it easier to manipulate the media with a remote...I dunno...I guess I could just Wipe and reinstall...

Right now all the lionk for the start bar are screwed up...I tried moving the target folders and it sort of worked...but not in MediaCenter...

Cyber,

I don't know if you have tried this, but try opening "My Computer," right-clicking on the drive you want to share, going to the sharing tab in the dialog box, and check the box that says "Share my folders and files" or something like that.

I found something else I had overlooked. In Vista Ultimate there is the option of Business or Home network. And I was default at Business...going to check if that made a difference.

I took the IFX-14 out of it's box and that thing is huge. I check it out and it will not fit in the Lian Li case at all...

sigh....

Sent Tankguys a message to see if he has can check a certain measurment of the SI 128 SE for me...it might work. But I cannot tell from the L W H dimensions...I need a center to edge distance.

Couldn't you just half the W measurement CD? I mean this won't be "perfect" but most of the coolers i've used are designed to be symetical (with slight variations) so you should be able to make a rough guess.

Well I hope not actually...the SI 128 SE is probably centered over the heatsick..which means it is about a 1/4" too wide too...but I was hoping that maybe it might be a touch less on the heatpipe side.

Not a lot of options for a good heatsink...

I took a CD disk and held it laying on the floor of the case and it's center is about 1/2" above the the center of the stock Intel HS. This indicates that nothins 120mm from edge to edge will work...which means no TRUE, or similar type of tower heatpipe.

THe SI 128 SE is 90 degrees the other way, and lays flat over the CPU...not exactly prefect for catching airflow of the exhaust...but may work if I could slight re-form the heatpipes... All I would need is a 1/4" to have it fit.

Well... what about modifying a heatsink CD??? Most of the heatsinks i've worked with would be "cutable". Of the few that i've used the heatpipes are usually centered in the cooling fins, and the huge fins are there simply to help disperse the heat from the heatpipes. If your only option is to modify i think "shortening" the fins on an aftermarket heatsink would probablys till give you better cooling than a stock heatsink.

Yeah...it's on the way.

THe IFX-14 isa not something you can easily chop up because the fan would no longer mount to it...the SI 128 SE could be reformed I think...

I've never even looked at an IFX-14 so i didnt' know. I was thinking more along the lines of a Tuniq etc. Since those types only have a fan mounted on one side. On those i figured you could just cut the side where the fan isn't mounted to make it fit in your case... was just a brainstorm trying to think of something that might work for ya ... guess i should've looked at a 14 first lol.
