I like it. It ties in with the PSU mod perfectly. It's probably a functional mod too. More room for the fins to do their job.

Please get some ooh shiny shots of the whole thing back together with the clear on it. I'd love to see it.

Nice job on the HS, hopefully cool it a little better

Just wondering, is it possible to spraypaint a heatsink? I've got the most boring HS on my Pentium 3 Rig Or will it just melt the spray paint or something (I've obviously never used spraypaint). Just an idea that I won't dare try myself....

If your Windows XP disk was an OEM version, you MAY NOT LEGALLY INSTALL IT ON THE NEW COMPUTER. According to the OEM license, you may only install the operating system on one computer. One computer is defined as one motherboard. Once you install XP on a ASUS P4SD-LA for example, it may never again be installed on anything other than that ASUS P4SD-LA. There is an exception allowed if the motherboard dies provided that the ASUS P4SD-LA is replaced with another ASUS P4SD-LA provided by the manufacturer. If you must buy another motherboard, even if it is another ASUS P4SD-LA, you may not install XP on that "computer."

Someone may wish to back me up on this, but be forewarned. If you have an OEM and you call to activate it anyway, they may do so without issue. They have no real way to track the license. Understand, that if Microsoft audits your key, you did in fact break the law (software piracy) and do not have a leg to stand on.
LEGALLY, you cannot install an OEM copy of Windows on another machine that that key wasn't install on first, it'll work though. (Gotta call up M$ though)

Yea I think the open fins will make for a little better cooling. We'll see, lol. And I promise I'll get shots of the shinyness tomorrow

I do beleive our (now gone) member Markleb (sp) said you could paint them as long as it was just the tops of the fins, as to not effect the cooling properties of the sink. That or a very LIGHT coat of laquer, I think thats what he said use. I'll see if I can't dig up the thread later today for you.

Also, you can get high temp engine block paint from an autoparts store for the temps if you're afraid of it cracking.

Found the link.

He's since taken the pictures down but he explains some on heatsink painting. Pretty much just use a light coat of lacquer on just the top of the fins.

Well, minor set back happened today. I noticed *why i just noticed now i have NO clue* that when I taped up the window to clear coat the side panel I got overspray all onthe backside of the window. It's horrible, the whole window is foggy and spotted with clear coat hazing the backside. I dont have any rubbing compund to take this stuff off and at this point Im thinking it's going to just be easier to cut a new window than try to buff this one. I have 8 spare sheets/pieces of acrylic, so no big hassel there.
Gah!
This was just a head-shaking kind of thing. I dont know what I was thinking, I knew better than to leave the back open like that, seen this same thing happen toooooo often in body shops due to poor taping/masking. Sigh, oh well, like I said, its a minor setback, worst case i cut a new window this weekend out of another piece of acrylic. I'm going outside now to set up the case and get these shiny pics for you guys as promised though.

This case should be *structurally* finished as soon as my 3 rear fans get here this week (hopefully tomorrow). I think I'm going to put the sig rig hardware in here so I can finally see this puppy up and running on my desk and have more room/time to focus on the mod comp case Im starting. All I need is some RAM and I can use my new hardware.

Which btw, Im still hunting for some DDR2 ram if anyone has some they'd let go for cheap.
