OT: 1984 300ZX Turbo, t-tops, digital dash (ugh, wish it was analog) power everything, auto trans (poo ) Has a short in the wiring somewhere unfortunately, I cant get the taillights to work. She's my forever project, been working on that car since HS. She runs great though, will light those tires up!!

Good news and bad news welcomes us this morning guys. First, ROB64 THANK YOU for the RAM and GPU. He sent me a 2GB kit of DDR2 533 and the 6600GT. Now that brings me to the bad news. The gpu, *sigh* just look at the pics, heres what our great USPS had done

So, I dont know what ROB64 will do a/b this, he had insurance on the package though, thats good news. I can use the onboard on the MSI though, thats what I was doing before anyway. I'm powering down now guys and heading outside. I have to
-Recut acrylic for the window
-Install fans/re-route wires
-Install new MSI board/hardware
-See if it will post

Before I do go though, I need advice on how much of this Tuniq TX1 stuff to put on the cpu. I read a/b a rice sized portion. Is that right?

Hooray for insurance. UPS and Fed Ex are generally pretty good about reimbursement. I hope that you and the Rob64 are able to get what is due to you.

edit: Yes. The size of an uncooked grain of rice is appropriate. Enough so that you get full coverage over the IHS or Die, but not so much that the TIM layer is any thicker than needed (rolling-paper thin).

Yea me and Rob will work it out. I was planning on using the onboard for the majority of this build anyway, his card was just a bonus add. So its not pivotal, but its still sickening to see a good card ruined. It will get taken care of though.

Thanks for the input on the paste. I can't wait to see this AC Freezer all securely mounted,lol.

Sorry to hear about the GPU .
Man that got totally destroyed. I think i've only ever had 1 instance of a breakage in the post in 10yrs of ordering stuff through the post. Then again, Royalmail are pretty good about not destroying things
At least the RAM is still good and you had insurance on it.
The freezer 7 is pretty good with the right paste...mine has decided to behave like a stock cooler due to the crappy white thermal grease I used...Good luck modding!

Yea, I dont think I can remember ever having something destoyed in shipping during my 5-6years of ordering/selling things.

It looks like the plastic clips that held the cpu cooler on broke and in the process of being thrown around in the box the big copper cooler slapped the smaller sink and broke it off.

Ok guys, I'm off to mod now, hopefully when you hear back from me I'll be on a 775 board (and not mom's Dell speaking of horrible luck or something) lol. Later!

Hello,I'm sorry to hear the GPU got trashed(That was The GPU I used for my first ever build)
I'm Glad I had insurance,at least The Ram got there OK.
That's the first thing I've ever had destroyed by usps.
