I decided to revive my first case. I don't want to buy a case just yet (CM690 is what I was thinking of) and the case I have now is hard to work with.
My idea is side mounted HD's, PSU at the bottom and Lian Li upside down mobo tray. Here what it started out like : Here's without the bottom drive collum : Half mounted the way I'd like it to be : I am going to fix the parts together next, I just need to get the back sorted as it has been flipped. I should be able to then strengthen up the motherboard tray with a support at the bottom, following with holes for cable management. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Once I get the insides done I'm thinking of painting it. The last thing on the case should be the front, which I have some ideas for. Update Tuesday March 4th I started cutting the mobo tray for cable management : I realised a few things which I will try to tackle next. Firstly the mobo tray needs to be supported at the top and bottom. I have 'bodged' a piece of wood, but it is a bit soft and it might not hold the weight if the case is twisted etc. I was thinking of doing something like this for the bottom (maybe with some sort of thin metal) : The next job is to install the HD bays. I would like to do this in a way that it doesn't pass the vibrations on to the bottom and the drive area. I'll see what happens... Any updates will be posted further down the thread

Just some minor changes, I managed to fix up the motherboard tray. It has a support riveted to the bottom and is riveted to the top (not the best look wise, but it should be discreet once painted).
Also had an old processor, I wanted to see what it was like to take the IHS off ![]()
