Default [Project] DarkSide *completed*

Finished pics:

Project "DarkSide" is going to be a modded Thermaltake Mozart TX that will be watercooled with the following components:

Intel Quad-core Q6600
XFX nForce 680i LT SLI
8gb OCZ Gold DDR2 800
EVGA 8800GTS Superclocked 640
2x WD 74gb Raptors in RAID 0
OCZ GameXstream 1010w PSU
Danger Den MC-TDX CPU Block
Swiftech 350 Water Pump
'77 Bonneville Heater core w/2 120mm
Zalman 8800GTS waterblock

I am calling it "DarkSide" because it is my official "dropping AMD and going over to the Dark Side (Intel)" build Expect to see a lot of black, chrome, and red/orange themes!

One of my mods will be a cascading reservior that I am still figuring out...here are some design brainstorms:

So I figured I would start my project log today since the UPS dude showed up today with a few boxes of pure win! that had my name on them. Now the Thermaltake Mozart TX wont be here untill probably tuesday, but I have already started on some prep work, so let's see what we have!

Here is some of the gear that arrived today...the XFX 680i LT SLI MoBo!

This RAM and the HD2600XT are going onto the AM2 board of my other system, so I can rob it of the 8800GTS Superclocked 640 WC and OCZ Gold DDR2 800 4x2gb which will go into this new build

And here is the Q6600...which we might as well get to lapping eh?

Lucky for me I have a glass desk, so it makes lapping things easy....just tape the paper upside down and your golden First lets make some marks to see where we stand after some initial sanding on some 600 grit!

As you can see...this chip needed lapping severely. Just look at the uneven wear!

More elbow grease!

Closer...

Now that looks a heckuva lot mo bedda. Time to switch up to the 2000 grit imperial wet/dry!

Almost there!

Now THAT'S what I'm looking for. Mirror finish. The DangerDen MC-TDX Waterblock should be here soon...we will see how they mate up

So I stopped by the pawn shop today and picked up this 19" widescreen monitor with no stand (wall mount) for 60 bux! I figured I could make it fit somewheres....

It is currently mounted with zip ties...I will either fashion a real mount for it, or possibly incorporate it into my case mod as a temp monitoring readout...hmmm..
