Default [Complete] My 900's feeling blue

Well I should have started this earlier, but honestly I wanted to make sure I didn't start a work log and screw up my case again trying to cut it. I'm working on my Antec 900, I've done pretty much the standard 900 cable management mod (Thanks for the great info on here, especially CyberDruid). I decided I wanted to jazz things up a bit with the computer rather than just throw it back together. So I found a nice color (I hope) of blue metallic and I'm going to paint my interior.

Here's the status as I start the painting:

Here is the side panel taped to protect the window:

Here is the back side and bottom of the case:

Here is a shot of the back fan grill removed:

Here is a shot of the inside of the case:

The selection of paint...hope it looks good when I'm done:

Speaking from experience, that is a sweet shade of metallic blue. Check out my log for how it looks: http://www.overclock.net/case-mod-wo...ml#post3771689 It looks a lot better with clearcoat too. And the pictures can't quite capture the essence of this color. You shall not be dissapointed.

Oh wow...I'm going to love that color

At this point I am going for blue inside and black outside, but wondering if there is any other changes I should make

I know that the 900 is a pretty modable case. I have no experience with it, but I'm sure there are others that couuld give you ideas.

Here are some pics of the case w

Finished Product:
Here is a shot of the back panel and the 500 yards of cable. Not sure if the tie downs are clear but they worked out pretty good.

Man...that panel was not easy to squeeze on

A shot of the inside...cables are pretty clean and airflow should be greatly improved. The vinyl film on they PSU is nearly a perfect match.

I did lap the TRUE, my temps appear to be about 5-8 degrees lower now. I did up the CPU fan to a higher CFM fan, and the 900 has alot better airflow.

Here we are with the side on. I like the blue highlight myself.

Sitting back in it's spot on the desk:

A shot of the front minus the flash to show the LEDs...pretty standard looking from there

I'm pretty happy with the final results. Thanks for looking at my log.

Wouldn't you want to derivet before painting case internals? Those sharp corners are going to be pretty tight to cover.

Heh that is probably going to end up being true. I'm hoping it comes out ok. If it is looking rough I may have to back off and derivet. I was hoping it would look ok without derivetting.

You won't need to remove the rivets to get good coverage in the corners. I've done it twice and I'm pretty anal about my paint and it comes out fine.

Psyborg, I would recommend for the windowed side panel, just remove the screws and the acrylic and mesh will come out, then painting will be easier. Also, whatever color you paint the main chassis will show through, as the fan bezel on top literally sits on top of the chassis, so you will see that color all the way around the case. I ended up not liking the color with the black exterior and had to repaint just the top of my chassis.

I like that color. I think another OCN'r named Wire did a very similar color with great results.

You're doing great! Keep up the good work.

Here are a couple updates. It looks pretty good in person, but the flash made the pictures turn out a bit odd. Seems streaky but doesn't look that way to my eyes.

Maybe it's reflecting off the metallic paint? Or maybe it's streaky and I can't see it in my garage? I did have the door open for natural light earlier and it didn't look streaky. Any ideas from you pros?
