Default [Project] Formal Fishy!

I have begun. I got some money for my birthday (Sunday) so I got some stuff. I fixed my Dremel and when I got up this morning I was in a moddin' mood! So my first ever Case Mod has begun.

The Style:

Simple and formal looking yet personalized. I find my own Zero to be too ricer esque so I am refusing to go that way with this case.

The Planned Mods:
  • Round Side Window.
  • PA120.2 Mounted Up Top.
  • Acrylic Spacer Over PSU and HDD Area.
  • Mounting Old Stacker Casters to Bottom. *DONE*
  • CCFL Lighting (Blue on the bottom and Green in the top to add a nice contrast).
  • Fan Change Out to Yate Loons.
  • Kama Bay In Front.
  • Painted Interior. *DONE*
  • Sound Dampening/Vent Coverage.
  • Non Vented PCI Cover Changeout.
  • Dual CCFL Paddle Switches.
  • Case Handles Up Top.
  • Wire Management.
  • New DD Fatboy Fittings for my blocks.
  • New PSU.
  • Large Appliqué for Non-Windowed Side Of Case.
  • OCZ Ram Cooler

The Parts List:

Updates will be in the second post of this thread. Any and all comments are welcome!

Update: 4/29/08
I didn't take any Pics of the case before paint or before the window cutting because I was too anxious to get started but while my Dremel was cooling I decided I'd snap some. Forgive me for the so-so quality. They were taken with my HTC Excalibur. Also excuse the cobwebs and dust everywhere. It's my dad's shop and most of the cobwebs have been there forever lol.

Painted Chassis From Side.

Angled View of Painted Chassis.

The Soon-To-Be Windowed Side and the Crappy Top I will be hacking to pieces as soon as I get my Radgrill.

My Only Boo-Boo. Will Be Covered by the C-Channel.

The Side Panel On The Case.

An Angled View Through the Window.

The Stacker Casters Mounted!

More to come soon! Keep an eye out!

Picked up some Plexi for the window and some Lexan for the spacer inside. Hope to do that tomorrow. Now I just need some c-channel.

nice - except for the easily covered slip-up you did a pretty clean job on that side panel window.

Yeah I have only a few hours experience with my Dremel. I dropped it and something screwed up a few weeks ago but I fixed it yesterday. The ironic thing is I didn't slip up until I was almost done with the cut. If I hadn't lost my collet nut for my flex shaft I could have done a better job. I'm gonna do some more sanding to even it out today and work on the Lexan spacer for inside.

I used a reinforced cut-off wheel. Got a 5 pack for like $7.00. I just traced the circle on to the panel and i made an initial score line by moving slowly then I let the dremel cool. I then moved slowly and cut the panel. Worked great!

Looking very nice. Add another 120mm fanhole + 2 1" holes for barbs and you've got the same top as I do! I'm currently in the painting stages for my rocketfish modding. Infact...I should probably run down and get more paint.

I'm not dead guys! I promise! I've been busy with trying to get this job at Best Buy. I've just about got it. I aced my first 2 interviews and I have a final one with the store's GM next week. After that I will be able order some stuff when I get my first paycheck maybe. Depends on whether or not my car insurance bill shows up first. u.u

I added a TC PA120.2 to the things to buy list. I will need one when I upgrade so I figured why not go for it now? I just need to find a place to put it... bottom of the case maybe? Then HDD mounting would be an interesting challenge but I could just get some 5.25" to 3.5" adaptor and put it behind the Kama Bay. And tips would be great.

Also does anyone have a large OCN logo they would like to sell me? I'll send cash and we can do it in the FS/T section for security.
