Ya I am glad the disk missed me Syr.
...Time For another set of updates ![]() This whole set of tasks took me a huge 9 back breaking hours.... I cut the front panel of the server . This will be replaced by an acrylic front.. ![]() I used a hand file to shape the slot for the PSU wires.. Here is a before and after pic ![]() I cut the acrylic side panel which will sit on top of the slot. The painters tape looks a little wrinkled because of all the wet sanding. ![]() The sides for of the side panel .. I used a 50 / 80 / 400 dry and 1000/1500 wet sanding to get this look. (Thanks to Dae Ja Voo 's guide) I am waiting on the acrylic polish to get here so that I can nicely polish it out.. (Sorry for the blurry pic, my camera just wont listen to me )![]() A better Pic ... The holes for the screws are slightly chipped. But the panel is going to be secured using a acorn nut. So that will cover the chipped portion.. Its actually very small... it looks big in the picture.. I actually did'nt even notice it till I took the picture ![]() ![]() I stripped the paint off the server... I used a paint stripper for the job. I put the server in an old bath tub and sprayed the paint stripper over it.. a couple of hours later the paint turned soft and flaky all I had to do then was use a scraper and scrape the paint out ![]() ![]() I need more acrylic to start on the front panel and the feet. I will have to wait till Thursday.. Thats when the package from Tap is scheduled to arrive... I will start sleeving the PSU next..

I am liking the details you are putting into this, good effort so far. Keep at it, I haven't seen to many Rack mods.

Hey, wasted.
![]() If you plan on doing more acrylic mods that require holes to be drilled, there are specialised bits: I use a different brand, and the tips are pointyer (is that a word?), but those give a general idea of what to look for. These bits will drill cleanly and not chip the entrance and exit wounds on the acrylic. No offense... just me ![]() Also, what are you going to use to polish the edges of the acrylic pieces? Are you doing it by hand, or are you using a power tool?

The Novus products are quite decent, and should yield some very nice results.
It will take some patience however. But, seeing as you already ran through several grits of sandpaper I think that you are more than prepared for the task. When are are getting the rest of your acrylic? I look forward to seeing more plastic-work.

The rest of the order is commin in on the 8th .. The paint is going to be here today.. So today I am planning on sleeving the PSU.. and If time permits sand the server chasis and prep it for paint. I need to figure out first how many extra mounting holes I may need. I will hate to drill the case after I have painted it
