Looks good! That acrylic looks very soft. I love how soft wood gets when you sand it down, but I haven't sanded my acrylic yet (see sig for linky to glass house)

Updates :

Look what arrived today

The TJ -07 .What a wonderful piece of engineering..I couldn't take my eyes of it .. its sooo beautiful...

Its for my next project " The Clone ".

Ok back to updates..

I sleeved the PSU and put the wires in the loom. Here are a couple of pics hopefully the idea behind the whole powering the server from outside is slightly clearer

I still have a lot to sleeve including fans and a couple of other wires.

Fedex delivered this package today
6 Cans of Krylon Primer /6 Cans of Krylon Gloss Black Paint and 6 Cans of duplicolor black effex.

I am going to prep the server for paint next..thats once I get the wires sleeved

Ha Ha .. Yes I am gonna start painting tomm.. Hopefully all goes well.. I have gone thru spooky's how to several times hopefully thats gonna be enough *crosses fingers*

Small update

Its been 2 days since I updated this log that's because nothing much has been happening .

I have primed and sanded the server chassis. It took so long because this is how I proceeded .

Day 1 : Initial Sanding + First Coat of primer
Let the whole thing dry overnight
Day 2 : Another 5 Coats of Primer .. Every 1 hour.
(Let it Dry Over night)
Day 3 : Wet Sand with 600 / 800 and 1000 grit Sandpaper.
(Wash and let it Dry overnight)

(The above part is done.)

For Painting I am going to do the whole thing in one day. I am estimating around 5 coats, one every 1.5 hrs.

I am going to let it Dry overnight and then start clearcoating.

Please let me know If I should make changes to the process.

The template and drawings for the server cover and the front. I used the remaining to design the PSU enclosure.

wait, you're supposed to sand after you prime?
so thats why my paint isn't sticking... lol, j/k, but I didn't know you were supposed to sand afterwards

It was a pretty productive day overall.

I cut up all the acrylic needed to make the top cover / front panel and the steps.

I also did 3 coats of gloss black paint on the server.

The acrylic steps taking shape.
The edges are not perfectly straight but a little sanding will fix it.

The painted chassis. I dunno why it looks grey in the pictures

. Its nice and perfectly black

All was going well when I got exited and held the paint can too close to the surface

I have to fix this I am going to let the whole thing dry overnight. I will do a little wet sanding and then once last coat of paint over the whole thing.

Newer Updates :

I drilled all the holes in the front fan panel. and its almost ready. The server has got its last 2 coats of paint and is sitting to dry. I sawed the hole on the top panel that will hold the delta 120mm fan.

Here is a picture of the progress on the panel.

And.... its done

.... It still has to be sanded on the sides. but I just couldn't wait..

Here is how the delta 120 mm fan will look when its mounted on the top panel.
