Default [Project] Not Another Rocketfish

Yes, another Rocketfish mod... sorry. Nothing spectacular planned here, just a side panel, some wheels, couple extra fans, some UV goodies, and hopefully, happiness.

Plan:
Acrylic window in side panel
UV cathode x2
UV reactive cables for fans & SATA II
Fan speed controller
Replace plastic feet with rubber wheels
Add exhaust fan to roof of case
Add intake fan to acrylic side panel (maybe)
Figure out some kind of cable management

Pre-Mod

Default Mother's Day window install

Thanks to some fine work by fellow OCN member Jerrari, which was done MUCH faster than expected, I got to install my acrylic window on Mother's day.

14"x14.5" Hole cut in side panel - Thanks Jerrari!

Side panel and wheel replacement supplies

In picture:
Car door trim, 18"x24" acrylic sheet, nuts, washers, four casters, black cable management tubing, acrylic drill bit, Lian Li fan (included with Rocketfish case), and bin of random zip ties and blades.

Plan to add door trim to side panel edge, cut acrylic to 16"x16.5", apply Velcro to outer most edge of acrylic and back side of panel to secure it in place without needing screws.

I want to install the side panel acrylic without adding the fan to see how I like the look. I may end up leaving it like this if I don't feel up to the task of drilling the acrylic. Did I mention I'm lazy? Well, I am.

Tah-Dah, it's installed!

I didn't include the grunt work pictures of cutting the acrylic to size or wedging on the door trim. I wish I would have had some sort of camera on for when the acrylic sheet slipped out of Brian's hands right onto the waiting Velcro adhesive. In his words, "Well, looks like that's as straight as it's getting now".

Default Wheelie time

Used the holes from the old plastic feet for the new rubber casters. Very simple install, just two washers per bolt and a nut. The bolt was nearly perfect length to not bother my PSU.

3/16" is just about as close as I'm comfortable with.

Added some UV cable extensions for the case fans, which can be seen in this picture.

Here is the side panel back on the computer.

I will work on getting a better night shot pic up later tonight.

Next up is the exhaust fan for the top of the case.

you do realize the sheer amount of static pressure needed to move an aluminum full tower case, even if is on wheels right? Sure he ain't BS'ing you?

Its actually quite possible in on a surface where there is very little friction (say glass for example) and the wheels are very well lubricated. But since it is a room I doubt people live in marble rooms.
