Actually I haven't been on there since nearly 2004 maybe 2005. I used to be known as xTransworldx, I was quite a noob and annoyance iirc lol. I soon got tired of software and came here around 2006 when I got more interested in hardware. How is it over there? I am thinking about picking up DBP since I still have DBC .13

Is the can of Budweiser really a necessary tool?

That was a rhetorical question. Of course it is. (My "tool" of choice, as well.)

Jessie's Gumdrop - Day 02

Time to drill the holes and test fit the ultra kaze 120, and make sure the pc speaker fits *bites nails*

Found a template on PCApex, wasnt liking it too much compared to the real fan holes, but it ended up being ok. Here's the template over the hole that was cut. Drilled the pilot holes then drilled out the real ones

seems to fit ok, now for the pc speaker...

fits under ok

Next was the Anti-Jessie switches. I ordered 2 Always-Off, SPST toggle switches fromMcMaster-Carr. They are momentary switches that I am going to wire into the power and reset circuits so Jessie can't push the case buttons randomly and reboot the machine. The circuit will require that you hold the "anti" switch up while pressing the case switch, for it to operate. Here's the switches and the 1/2" drill bit (muha) all ready for action

Marked out the spots on the back of the case and cneter-punched them (thats the cool automatic centerpunch I ordered from McMaster-Carr the other day - definitely worth the 35 bucks, trust me. No more drill bit walking )

punched and ready for drilling (sorry blurry pic)

two pilot holes to start

the 2 1/2 inch holes for the switches

test fitted, needs some adjustment later

need to sort the collars on these things for flushness, but overall not too bad

Annodized aluminum handles for the top of the case. Youre probably saying "what in the world does a 2 y/o need with case handles". Hey, listen, ok, she may Lan Party sooner than you think, ok!? Thats why . Plus they look cool

Taped off, marked, and center punched

pilots drilled
I could swear I snapped a pic of the holes after I drilled them out from the pilots but I guess I didnt, oh well, you get the idea

test fit of handles...

This bezel had thick horizontal support structures that needed to be cut back so the modders mesh will fit when the time comes, heres some pics of what it looked like, prior to dremel action...

After rough cuts with a dremel disk

After the rough cuts I switched to a diamond tip bit to get in there and do some detail work. I wore an OSHA approved filtered dust mask and eye protection while doing these cuts, and all cuts above. Note the plastic powder everywhere. You dont want to breath that stuff in.

After some more work witht the diamond tip, I switched to a small sanding drum to clean it up. Here's the final pic.

I took a parting shot of my humble workshop as I left it for the evening. A bloodbath comenced soon after in TF2....

muuuuhaaaahaaaa - - cry some more!

More updates soon. Thanks for reading
Cheers

Looking great man! The auto-punch, it's a simple push-down and it 'pops' the punch, correct? We had one like that at a shop I worked at, very nice little tool. You can also buy a version that is a punch in two halves connected with a heavy spring. You pull the back half and release it, gets the same effect.

Anyway, random tool ramble,lol.

So what are the plans for the color? Are you just doing a simple two-three color job or do you plan to incorporate any logos/designs onto it?
