Looks great .

your cuts turned out great and overall the entire thing looks very professonal.

for such an unusualy color it looks amazing , and the black on the inside tops it off very well.

this is me , very impressed

when i see things done so well , it makes me want to run into the garage , grab the saw and get to modding.

looks great , cant say that enough.

Wow, I didn't know how I felt about that color.

After paint it looks great, contrasted against the black, very sharp!

Jessie's Gumdrop - Day 08

The inlaws took Jessie for a few hours so I was able to do some work while I also did laundry

First I started with some of the mesh pieces I will need, this one is for the right panel vent

This is for the front blowhole area
See that extra black line across the top portion?
measure twice, cut once! I almost began cutting at 4 3/4 instead of 5 3/4!

I devised a way to mount the blowhole mesh using those leftover pieces of plastic framing on the back of the bezel. I made a template out of cardboard to test out the idea (upright for photo, not mounting)

theres the finished cut for the right panel vent, the little square is for the vent on the uv lamp inverter. The other piece for the blowhole needs further work using the template

I taped off both sides and used the template to make some markings. Then I made a few quick cuts using the dremel

then I bent the tabs upwards. I used a clamp along the line to get decent straight bends. After an initial test fit I realized I needed two more notches along the bottom

re-test fit...
I havent decided how I am going to mount this but my first idea is to get some tiny screws and screw thru one of the holes in the mesh into the plastic piece. I want the piece to be secure since there is a live fan behind it, but I also dont want to use glue or epoxy. The main concern here is that Jess cant knock the mesh plate off and damage a)her hands and b)the fan etc. I guess Ill figure it out

test fit shot from the front. not too bad. due to the irregular shape of the bezel this seemed to be the best way to have a secure mount and a flush face

the mobo backplate and stainless steel insert/standoff

they needed to be re-mated so I decided to whip out the new pop rivet gun

5 pops later

and of course, not listening to my better judgement, I popped the the part on without taping up the whole piece, and of course on the fifth rivet (middle one) the gun jumped and damaged the paint.

Now normally I'd be upset, but this time I am not. If you notice, there's an imperfection in the paint from the shop (upper right corner in this photo) - so I will need to touch it up anyway. Not an excuse, I have learned my lesson. At least I can still technically fall back on the old "I didnt know man, this is my first case mod!" excuse. Those days are soon to be over

Thats all I could get done today - thanks for watching
