maybe you could check inside the one at the store before you take it home and check for anything cracked?
or ask them if they could test it for 30 seconds or something maybe...

CR ~ Gah!...that sucks arse.

I gotta wonder how that happened. Seems to me that a serious amount of blunt-force trauma would be required to snap that motor-mount.

...but that is water under the bridge at this point.

Never the less, I wait to see what you will create once you get the saw sorted out.

hehe, blunt force truama for sure!
I suspect it fell off a hi-low but landed flush on its right side, splitting the seems of the box which were then retaped, but cracking the mount internally - thats my theory anyway

I am curious as to what I will create too, I know what i am going to "attempt", but as for "create" I just hope its not one big mess + epic fail - lol

Hey syr, since bill owen mentioned he likes biege case resurrections, send him to this thread if you get a chance. I'd be immensly curious of his opinion of this mod, and it uses some mnpctech parts to boot!

OK, back in action

I was able to take just the saw out to a different lowes and replace it with a brand new one that we swapped out of the box. I had called ahead and spoke to the manager and she hooked me up.

Got it home and tested it before cleaning or mounting it just to be sure - all ok
Mounted it on the stand and cleaned that sucker down good. Grabbed a piece of scrap acrylic, removed the plastic backers and replaced with blue tape, and did a test cut using the stock/all purpose blade that comes mounted in the machine....
DUDE! I used slightly above lowest SPM and it cut like butter, and with a damn near perfect edge!!! Its hard to tell the factory material cut vs the one I just put on there, its amazing

the saw doesnt vibrate, and is practically inaudible when at low SPMs, and is whisper quiet when running higher SPMs. Wow.

Since the wife is going out and I am baby detail, I cant test my spiral blades until tomorrow, but first thing in the morning I will, then if all is ok I will proceed to attempt the script lettering of my daughter's name.

This tool opens up all sorts of creative modding possibilities - I am stoked

more updates tomorrow!

sweet!
you didn't get a crusty build-up of the cooled down, once-burnt acrylic on the edge of the cut?

you are cutting acrylic right?

Glad you got it all sorted out. I love large powertools, I hate handheld stuff, but bandsaws/pedistal drills/skill saws are great.
