hey, I think the reason why you had such uneven cuts on the acrylic piece was because you used a spiral blade... you can cut circles and rounded shapes with a regular blade and that is always recommended because spiral blades have many problems

The spiral blade is an amazing tool but it requires a steady hand and a fair amount of practice, neither of which I had when I did those cuts - despite that I think they came out ok. If you have pics or video of someone cutting script lettering (whole words) using a scroll saw, and not using a spiral blade, I'd be very interesting in seeing that

the spiral blade is a terrible blade... at least from what I've heard
this guy (youtube channel) is a pro at cutting and has a whole lot of videos from what I hear him say, he usually uses Flying Dutchman blades or Jewelers blades heres one of his earlier videos: he cuts out WorldsBestMom and explains little techniques to help since your working with acrylic, heres a video of him cutting out his name in acrylic (much thicker then yours though) and he touches the ends with a blow torch to clear it up: heres one of my own cuts, which I made last night... its the TF2 sniper if you can pick that out lol

lol thanks, it was a quick one... with a messed up stencil (I'm trying to fix that... but meh)
it takes a bit more involvement to cut with a straight blade, but it looks much better... and its much easier (from my experience and what I've heard from Steve Good [that guy from YouTube] he's like the Bill Owen of scroll sawing lol
