I just ordered a pop rivet gun from mcmaster-carr, the "heavy duty" Kit version which does 4 rivet sizes, and comes with a bunch of rivets (200 mixed types) plus a plastic case. I think its like the one Repo showed in his thread - $34

I also ordered:
-10 ft. of 1/8-1/4-1/4-5/16 #5 Neoprene c-channel for the blowhole
-25 pc steel washers (needed 6) for the swtches (ID 1/2, OD 7/8 iirc)
-1 SPST Toggle to match the other switches, but this one regular on-off, not momentarys like the other two I already have, for the uv lamp

should be here thursday, and the goodies from mnpctech should be here tomorrow

I should get moving on the prime/paint - the weather was crappy here today -rainy and humid. next few days should be good tho

ah Baysore, I used to have customers out there when I worked in the pro photography industry. If I recall it was 42s off the southern state, then south on that main road into the town. turn east onto main street, then a couple of blocks to their shop. then I would head back and make stops in smithtown, then huntington, then back to queens

if Bayshore is 5 mins east of nassau/suffolk border you drive more insane than I do - haha

Haha yeah its exit 42...and do the math! The highways are divided to about 1mi between exits, and its about 15 exits to nassau. 15 exits at 90mph = 6 mins. Ok sorry, 6 mins not 5 mins, my bad At least thats the way I calculated it lol.

Default Jessie's Gumdrop - Day 05

Jessie's Gumdrop - Day 05

yay, update!

--Friday--

With the blessing of the boss, I was able to snag a rail kit from my job. Now I dont have to include the hdd cage in the build which means less sanding/priming/painting Here its sanded down, along with the washers for the rear switches.

the new marson pop rivet gun from mcmaster-carr. comes with 4 heads for various rivet sizes and 200 rivets. 34$

there's a rivet. had to re-rivet the lid back on temporarily, for stability, because I needed to drill another 1/2" hole on the back of the chasis for another switch

additional 1/2" hole for spst toggle for UV lamp

test fit

this is the piece of acrylic I knew wasnt going to fit with what I wanted when I ordered it, but I ordered it anyway. sizing it up, its a no - go. that cut will have to wait.

--end friday--

--saturday--

no priming today

on friday evening I ordered the acrylic sheets that I will need. now that I know what sizes are coming I decided to re-mark my cuts for the window and get the cutting done

braced and pilotted...

using a 2 3/4" hole saw for the rounded corners of a basic 10x10 window - 2 cuts down

4 cuts

now lets connect the dots with the trusty ol' dremel

muha

and look at the oh-so-cliche shaped piece left over!
kept it in the scrap bin, never know when I may need a piece of oh-so-cliche-cross-shaped sheet metal

after some bastardization

test fit. I think it looks fairly cool - it will hide the psu and uv lamp nicely

did some hand sanding on the bezel (front and back) in prep for priming

tomorrow I need to sand the drive bay covers, the cdrom face-plate, and the mobo back-plate. I am so looking forward to that.

Once those parts are sanded I think I am ready for priming. Stay tuned, thanks for reading

I'm so jealous of that flex-shaft... I have one but somehow I lost the square-centered bit that screws onto the dremel itself... Now I have a useless flex-shaft hanging on the workbench

Its called a Driver Nut, you can get a replacement - just email Dremel. My brand new dremel showed up without that part in the box. Emailed....sorted. The flexi shaft is by far the most useful part of the dremel - order that part man!!!!
