Ok, sorry for the lack of updates. It's been raining daily where I live, and I can't get much work done since I don't want to cover my basement with little pieces of steel and stuff. Next weekend is tax-free weekend, so I may hold off on the paint until then, see how much money I save. Until then I'll finish making the HDD bay, figure out whether or not I want a blowhole on the top of my case and how to cut the blowhole in the acrylic.

Update:

Constructed my HDD bay today, after many days of procrastination.

Test Fitting

I feel that this is the only thing I did completely right in this build so far. On all of the others I've made quite a few mistakes. This may just be due to the fact that the steel I was working with is very thin, and flexible so it was very forgiving if I messed up since I could just bend the metal a little more to make it fit.

Anyhow, next weekend is tax-free weekend! No more pesky 5% taxes on everything I buy. I'll get the paint then and probably finish up this build that's taken way longer than it should have.

This new camera is way better. Too bad I'll only have it until the end of August.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

Well, since I was bored, I decided to make a new title header thing for my build on the front page. I've been considering whether or not I should paint something on the right side of the case. It's completely blank except for a 80mm vent. Any opinions would be appreciated. Right now, I'm just thinking of leaving it blank, since I would have to use a rattlecan to paint anything. Although I could always make something simple like stripes, or something from a stencil...

Also need to order a rivet gun and rivets. I'll do that off amazon. Free shipping.

You could always cut out a fancy design, put some frosted acrylic behind it, and light it up with LEDs!

Update:

Went out to Advanced Auto Parts and AutoZone today. Got me a little bag of goodies.

Items

So, there's one can of sandable primer, two cans of acrylic enamel (Blue and black), three packages of sandpaper (320, 1000, and 1500 grit), a 3M respirator with an Organic Vapors filter, and one of those pushy paint handle thingy... I also got myself a 3 pack of tack cloths, but it's not that great. I would've preferred some of the 3M tack cloths, not none of the store had it.
Other things that none of the stores had were 3M rubbing and polishing compound, and clear coat.

Why wouldn't they have clear coat???

I'll have to order online then I guess.
Also, at the stores, I saw Acrylic Enamel, and Acrylic Lacquer. Which one should I have picked? I got the Enamel because the package said it was supposed to be a little glossier.

Honestly, unless you're really picky I would fore go the polishing/rubbing compounds. For a PC (imo) a couple of nice coats of clear is more than glossy enough for the amateur modder.

Also, check Lowes/Marvin's/Home Depot for clear coat. I have purchased some there before. Be sure you spray a test panel first to make sure the clear doesn't have any adverse effects with the paint.

Man you had me confused there, I thought you said "I would go for the polishing/rubbing compounds."

It's forgo, one word.
Anyhow, I was thinking of looking for some duplicolor clear coat. What type is it? Is it this?

Also, they didn't have self etching primer.

Sorry for being a grammar nazi.
