Default [Project] Sanguineus Cinis Cineris aka "Blood Ashes" *Updated July 28*

Uh oh, time for another Repo build! I give you Sanguineus Cinis Cineris, which is Latin for "Blood Ashes".

This was originally going to be my Mod Comp 2008 entry but I will not have the time I wanted to dedicate to it and have it finished before deadline, so here I am!
Here's the beginning shot of this build.

What I am envisioning for this build and things I want to do -
  • A futuristic robotic machine factory
  • "Menacing" red lights glowing from the front 'vents' via 120mm led fans
  • Blow-hole "Helipad" on the top- In progress
  • Make new back panel moving the PSU to the bottom and mobo up top Finished!
  • Window - In Progress
  • Move HDD cage Finished!
  • Red lights under the base
  • Paint finish that looks like weathered steel or rusted metal

I'm still in the air on the smaller details and such, I'm sure you guys will chime in during this log. I love the OT journey as much as the build itself, lol. So with that said, let's get to business guys!

Ok, I'm going to update this one a little different than I did Phoenix. I'll just post direct links to the updates I post. I know everyone loves pics, but it's just a hassel to grab a few pic links out of all my posts and link them. So I'll number my updates and give a summary of what was done in that particular one. Here we go, and thanks for watching!

Update #2 - Removing the mobo tray and cutting the rear panel out

Update #3 - June 1 - New rear panel riveted in.

Update #4 - June 16 - Top and front fan holes cut, mobo panel mocked up and drive cages trimmed!

Update #5 - June 18 - HDD cage mounted (with fan hole cut), motherboard plate and I/O panel mounted and riveted

Update #6 - June 20 - Mocking up the HDD 120mm fan, designing the window (opinions needed) and a special piece from Bill Owen

Update #7 - June 25 - Cutting the blowhole in the side panel, making templates for I/O shield and PSU

Update #7 - June 30 - Window design getting drawn out and cut

Update #8 - July 5 - Bondo begins! (on the bezel )

Update #9 - July 14 - More bondo on the bezel and patching up the base. *And a window teaser*

Update #10 - July 15 - More bondo on the bezel! And opinions needed for the front bezel

Update #11 - July 28 - Finally got the key for the front lock switch! Bondo work as well as tips and advice!

IMO, that BMW case is fugly. Lol, I want a more subtle look I think, but thats just me. Thanks for the linkage though man!

Ok, so here is the first installment of pics and work.

Shots of the case and the tear down (hardware was previously removed)

^^Going to remove that bar and make a bottom section.

Plenty of airflow for the mobo huh? lol

The I/O panel just unscrewed. Thats nice, I might reuse this.

Got two cracks I have to patch in the base, assuming I'll keep it

The front taken off.

I wish I had the key that worked this momentary lock switch This would be nice, I'll have to search and see if another key might fit

Got that bar removed. I'll have a post a little later on getting pop-rivets out, I've seen a few guys asking a/b this lately.

So, what do you guys think??
