Temps are around 2C lower. Not really much of a difference.

Interesting; the smoked acrylic is pretty cool. You might want to try to make it so that you can still use the motherboard I/O shield since it does provide a cleaner look.

I intentionally was going to use the IO shield but when I measured the square I forgot about the height from the mobo stand offs and by then it was to late cause the square was already cut. If I put it in now it just looks ulgy.

I sorta know what you mean; when I designed my case I based the dimensions on the ATX spec and the sizing for the hole for the I/O shield is abour 5mm too high; but at least it doesn't look too bad on my case.

When I work with acrylic I usually cut with a jig-saw; then sand the edges smooth and polish them up on a buffing wheel. If the cuts are rather complex then I may opt to flame polish them rather than buffing them.
