Default Private Work/Build Log possible????

Okay, so I'm wanting to start a build log, and I'm wanting to kind of lay it out all neatly and everything, but I don't have the time to devote a couple of hours in one sitting to OCN and lay it out all how I like it. (Imagine that, OCD on OCN, haha)

Anyway. I see in the case mod competition, they have private work logs available, and I was wondering if there was any way I could get a private work log too, just not part of the competition?

My other alternative is to just create a MS Word document, and when it's all done, paste the whole thing onto here, and just add all my emphasis's and images and such. How do people do it? I don't want to create redundant work for myself. If that's the best way, then I'll do it. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the help!

I've tried the Contact Us link on the bottom of the page as well as PMing SpookedJunglist. Granted I just PMed him like 2 hours ago, but I was getting kind of impatient and wanting an answer, so I decided to start a thread and get more opinions, if not even pointers on the best way to create a build log.

I'd think it'd be hard to justify a private section for one person; your best bet would probably be to lay it out in word/notepad with all the proper image tags and BB-script formatting and just copy/past it in to a new thread when you're ready.

Cool, thanks for the rapid response. I understand about the private section for one person, I was just curious if there was already a private section I didn't know about.

I think you're right about Word/Notepad. Where do I get that BB-script formatting? Is that something I can enable in my text editor? Or do I just have to manually put them in there?

Hi hiiyah!....

I do as you stated: MS Word.

Before I start I have all my images sorted. I have a folder for each build, and a sub-folder for each Post. Post folders are named by number or case name+number.

The images are numbered according to the post that they will be in: Post 1 image is named "1a", the first image for the second post is "2a", the second "2b". And all images are in their corresponding folders.

When I write my MS Word document I place tags in the text that mark their location.

Once I am ready to post I have 2 tabs open, one of OCN and one that is the page of my images (PhotoBucket).

You can see what happens next....

the process for posting takes about 5-7 seconds per image (copying and pasting URL's)plus the time it will take to add smilies, formatting and a quick proof-reading.

I hope that this helps.

I think my brain is about to explode. Maybe because it's late. I plan on taking your advice, Syrillian, I'll just have to read through that about three more times before I can wrap my brain around that entire process. You are very organized, and your work and worklogs show that. Now that I've had a glimpse into the mind of Syrillian, I see why. Thanks for the advice, Rep+!!

Okay, I just read it through a couple more times, and I get it. Great idea. I'll be stealing that for sure. Stay tuned for my upcoming "murderMod TJ07". It's gonna be sick. Designed by Charles_H himself!!!

BB-Script = Bulletin Board Script and is used on most every forum (it is in many ways based off of HTML formatting). It uses standardized "tags" to format the text and insert pictures/links.

The most common BB tags are listed here.

I also forgot to mention that in addition to pre-writing your log in MS, the URL's for the pics can also be copied and pasted into the Word doc.
