Default [Project] Antec 901

Just yesterday I decided to do a bit of an upgrade to my Antec 900. I'm going to cut a hole for my PSU cables and paint all the bare metal parts flat black. This is my first time ever painting a case. I tried doing my bike many years ago, but that was a disaster. Hopefully this time it won't be.

I decided to remove the shiny sticker from the top 200mm fan covering up the wires. It just bothered me having this one random shiny part there, so I decided to cover it with electrical tape.

I actually did this part about a month ago. I cut the front I/O cables and patched in some more wires from an old junk case I had lying around. At the moment they're only taped together, but I plan to solder them together before I put my case back together.

I'm so proud of how these fan filters turned out. I didn't really have to do much here, but I finally found the perfect fan filters for the 900. They will fit inbetween the plastic shroud and the fan. All you need to do to clean it out is take off the front bay covers. Unfortunately, I don't think these filters catch as much dust since it's not thin woven wires like my other ones. Oh well. I just want to keep out the large pieces of dust anyway. You can find the fan filters I used here: http://coolerguys.com/120stmefigr.html

This picture was actually taken after I had primed the other side of the PCI slot covers last night. Here they are after I finished priming the other side this morning. Somehow I left one of the covers in my room, so I'll have to prime yet another. They turned out very well, and I haven't even painted them yet! No globs of paint or anything.

Next I decided to prime only one of the hard drive cages first. I didn't want to do both for the first time and maybe mess up on both, so I decided to start with just one so I could learn from my mistakes.

I forgot to take pictures of the first coat of paint for these, so forgive me. Here's the PCI slot covers after the second coat of paint. They're turning out really well.

After the hole was all finished, I moved on to doing the second coat of paint on the hdd cage. Once it dries, I'll probably use some fine-grit sandpaper on it to make sure it's nice and smooth.

My dad's drill press came in handy for drilling the PSU cable management hole for this one. I forget which size holesaw I used, but I want to make it look as close as possible to the other holes already in the case.

Here's what the hole looks like after about 15 minutes of filing down the sharp edges. I think it turned out pretty good! Now I just need to buy some rubber C-channel to put around the hole to make sure my PSU cables don't get cut.

Umm, using a 1/2" Drill bit and cutting four holes and connecting them would've made a neater hole, but your way works too.
